Re: Le Tour de France 2013
What an incredible stage just watched my mammoth 5 hour recording of today! Alpe d'Huez delivered everything I could of expected and more! Tejay Van Gaderen put in a sterling effort, but Riblon found those legs and just powered home! Richie Porte proving himself aswell, my doubts are slowly ebbing away.
Contador and Kreuziger just didnt have it today, got a bit worried when they broke away on that descent. Was getting excited when Andy had a bit of a shot up the first climb!
Great article by the way. VaVaFroome!!

Re: Le Tour de France 2013
What were saxobank playing at? I think froome was there for the taking yesterday but everyone was so passive up the first summit.
Poor teejay
. Yeah i got very excited watching the hilights when pierre, andy and teejay were all off the front
.
And yeah i wouldnt say im a hater of froome i just think its sensible to doubt when someone is sooo much better than everyone else, seeing as recently anyone in a similar position has been doping. Besides, saying he's at the same level as 2011 (when he was about to be dropped from sky then came from nowhere to b come second in la vuelta) isn't that definitive.
Anyway, expect a death or glory attck by contador today or tomorrow which should let quintana and rodriguez onto the podium and earn me some money.

Re: Le Tour de France 2013
soo, froome wins! woo. Also rodriguez destroys contador in revenge for last years vuelta, great to see especially as it makes me 50 quid
Been a fantastic tour this year, even though froome was pretty dominant there's at least been a lot of attacking, plus in the emergence of quintana there's a real prospect to challenge him in the next few years. Next year already looks quite tasty- Froome v Nibali v Quintana v Rodriguez v Schleck v Contador
Also fingers crossed for Cavendish to make it 5? 6? on the champs elysee tomorrow!

Kittel Arrghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
What a finish! Kirby was going mental! The jokes that man has provided over the past 3 weeks have been sensational!
Sad to see the end of that but what a race!!
So glad for Froome what a hero.
I cant remember what I used to do on my days off now that there is no more tour? :S

Re: SNH Cycling thread
renaming this the snh cycling thread now just incase anyone else wants to talk about stuff other than the tdf
Anyone watch the san sebastian classic yesterday? Gallopin with a great solo attack on the last mountain after saxobank, movistar and euskatel had been riding hard for the victory all day- fantastic days racing.
Also euskatel have announced they're pretty much shutting down next year which is quite sad as ive always had a bit of a soft spot for them

Re: SNH Cycling thread
read david walsh's 7 deadly sins this week, quite a good read
Re: SNH Cycling thread
yeah i rate him as a journalist, might have to pick it up- his "access all areas" thing with team sky was pretty reassuring- even if he does also work for news international i think he'd have enough personal integrity to tell us if anything dodgy was going on there.fiasko wrote:read david walsh's 7 deadly sins this week, quite a good read
I read the death of marco pantani by matt rendall in a similar vein, really good stuff by a guy who knew him- definitely made me feel a lot of sympathy for the riders as he put it "a human chemical experiment".
In other doping news, jan ullrich might be going to jail for lying under oath about using EPO- which would be a precedent for lance too.

i am taking my peugeot in today to get the tubs replaced with clinchers after TOO many punctures/hours spent with rubbing alc getting glue off the rims..

Re: SNH Cycling thread

this is my current ride

Re: SNH Cycling thread
Old road bikes are really easy to make single speed though.
Thinking of switching to a higher gear ratio on mine, but I'm told it's already quite high. Think it's 48 - 16.
I don't get how track cyclists get over 60kmp/h on 52 - 14/16 though. I max out at a little over 50.

Re: SNH Cycling thread
I see a lot of you guys have single speeds, might get one to cycle to work. My hipster mates all have em and really love em so i was thinking of getting one to cycle to work as my new flat is gonna be 15 mins ride away from the office.
Right I need some help my bike needs replacing, it was a trek 2.5 2011 105 shimano. (Some bitch ........... stole my baby)
trying to get a carbon frame and forks and shimano 105 for circa £1000. i know its a tall order but Im sure it can be done even though its proving hard. Every time I find a carbon frame circa £1000 the groupset are tiagra or something similar. the best I have found is this:
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bmc ... 2#features (actually falling in love this bike Im gonna be the black Teejay van Garderen if i get this!!)
edit. but this has an ali frame and at 8.95 kilo its a weighty.
Any one have any ideas or looking to sell something similar??
I need a decent mofo coz I do triathlon and road races.

Re: SNH Cycling thread
i'd post a pic of my wheels but itd just be embarrassing lol, there's more rust than bike there atm. Saving up for a new one, probs just a 200 quid commuter thing tho so no idea about pro race bikes etc..
But yeah la vuelta starts on saturday with nibali, rodriguez and valverde the favourites even if nibbles is only treating it as prep for the worlds. There's 11 summit finishes this year including the angliru where last time the motorbikes couldn't get up as it was too steep lol so i might put a fiver on betancur each way- quintana mk. 2?
unfortunately itv4 is just doing highlights so will have 2 stream eurosport again

Re: SNH Cycling thread
Yeah that was an intense stage, gutted he didn't get it. Still can't believe the pace of the peloton when it flattens out in these pro races now I know the amount of effort it requires to keep at 25/30mph on the flat for even a few minutes.hutyluty wrote:Tony Martin!

Swinley Forest is all open now and decent for any of you that actually ride and prefer off-road to posing with retro frames and fixed gears or looking at men in lycra..
Anyone been to BikePark Wales yet?

Re: SNH Cycling thread
it's angliru time!

hopefully horner falls off beforehand but still, should be exciting enough even if it'll be whoever comes second who gets the eventual win in 5 years.
