We used to have a climbing wall at school back in the day.
I was friends with 2 climbers, animals.
The one guy could climb the entire wall with only his index fingers.
He once climbed the side of the school to the roof, the school was made of bricks so had those 8mm gaps between that he would climb.

yeah man, the guys at my wall are fucking shredded, no one's overly built or heavy, just got that mad physique. makes me mad jelly.
I used to be great when i was kid, weighed fuck all, tall and great strength. years of abuse have put an end to that, desperately trying to regain some of it before I clock out.

It will improve your supporting grip strength, yes, but i'd phrase it "Supporting grip strength is important for deadlifts". Most bodybuilders/powerlifters get to a point where their grip will give out before their back will, that's why different grips and straps get used.
Edited because of bullshit/bad advice/new evidence has come to light/ etc.

Controlling your appetite is much harder on a bulk than on a cut. I'm doing a short refeed before gradually upping my calories slowly til september when I bulk again and I gotta say... When I'm hungry and I allow myself to eat a surpluss, it's really tempting to just get that extra bowl of cereal. Even if that's another 300 calories right there (I ate at 2500 today so that would push me close to fucking 3000). On my cut I'd force myself to be much stricter

Oi, Gen!
What's your BMR? What do you cut at? What do you bulk at?

Think my BMR's a measly 1500 atm. But when I was calculate activity (x1,45) and goal (bulking.. x1,2), that adds up to bulking at 2600 calories per day.
I cut at 1700.

So you cut at around -22%? Do you feel ok when you do that, like, mood and energy wise?

I cut at -20 yeah, but it can deviate up or down by a percentage. I'm not thaaaat precise. But I try to get as close to 20 as I can.
Innitially, I am fine, but if it's a harsh, prolonged cut, it will fuck with you a little and you need frequent refeeds (days where you eat at 110/120%, where allll the additional calories come from carbs) to keep up your mood, energy and metabolism (and fatburning!)

Oh right, so 110%/120% of your cut calories (your 1700)? How often do you personally have a 'refeed' day, on average?

Nah, I meant 110/120 of my maintenance, which with me is 2100 with my current activity level. My 1700 is 80% of my maintenance :0
Refeeds become more frequent the leaner you get. When you're really lean and nearing the end of your cut, you can have a refeed once every 7 to 10 days!
