Progressive Dubstep lol.
Anyone else think that sounds a lot like regular dubstep?

Ok then, progressive dubstep, lol.
Check "Prime Loops - Progressive Dubstep" sample pack.
I would disagree with this approach. If you want to make 'progressive dubstep' then buying a sample pack called 'progressive dubstep' won't necessarily be the best way to go about it.
You might be better off identifying some of the structures/elements you like in a 'progressive dubstep' tune, then work on trying to recreate them yourself rather than rely on a premade pack of sounds that someone somewhere has arbitrarily decided to associate with the genre.
It'll be of more benefit in the long run if you focus on how to make your own sounds and adapt what you have with your own unique style than it will be taking a bunch of sounds and assembling a track in a paint-by-numbers fashion.
He would be doing it only for the drums. At least that is what I meant.
And the drums are dope as fuck imo. (tested)
Just bought it because you mentioned it haha, excited to go through it

You can make a simple reese, then make sure it doesn't sound too intense so you get a calm feel rather than a heavy reese with wet drums (Listen to KOAN sound, Culprate, Gemini, Asa- Beyond the shadows, A perfect example on how the reese should sound)

There a small line between liquid and chillstep.

When I first heard "chillstep", I thought this was made-up genre to describe anything with females vocals with reverb, and wobbles with decreased volume or on a low pass filter.

Hahah! I was waiting for the 'genre police' to get involved.
Personally I don't see the issue with having sub genres within a specific genre of music. Isn't that how new genres of music emerge anyway?
There's sub genres within ALL genres of music. House, D&B, Rock, Pop, Dubstep, even Classical ALL have sub genres.
It's only in the dubstep scene that people get so arsey about it. If we all stuck to the original genre, surely there would be no progression to new genres within the music industry.
I'd be interested to know why a lot of people on here get the raving hump when they hear things like; chillstep, liquid, ambient, brostep etc. Surely it's just better, not to mention easier to appreciate the music rather than getting pissed about the sub genre people file certain tracks under??

What point am I missing Wub?
People may not be getting the raving hump in this thread lol, but still knocking the fact that some people use sub genres. I constantly see people getting pissed about sub genres, almost to the point of giving themselves a hernia!
Just interested to know why some people are so against the use of sub genres?

What is it that makes 'chillstep' a terrible name? I wouldn't say any genre of music is a particularly
nice name, it's just a word at the end of the day. And there's PLENTY of well produced 'chillstep' tunes out there - saying they're awfull is subjective.

well obviously
and it's not a question of the quality of production, it's just everything i've heard under that name has been insanely corny and dull

I agree there's a lot of shit stuff under this sub genre, but there is in all sub genres. I'd probably classify some Phaeleh tunes as chillstep(ish), would you say his tunes are corny and dull?
Don't get me wrong, I respect your taste in music as I do everyone elses. To be honest, I think a lot of the brostep stuff out now is farrr too generic and sounds the same as the last tune, but I wouldn't say they're all awfull - theres some gems in all subgenres.
