Oh you can obv. But cultural perception is as much a part of the clothes you wear as the fabric it's made of. People either care or don't care about the fabric's role in the aesthetic appeal of their clothing and the same thing's the case with cultural signifiers. It's why you don't wear a dress either (mega assumption! If you want to wear a dress, wear that sunny summer dress ultraspatial! And wear it with pride!), but dress wearing is more culturally ingrained than bandshirts.

Think that's diff. That's a reappropriation of a cultural signifier. Wearing a bandshirt of a band you don't like but like the design of is more of a neglect of cultural signifiers.
