is it immoral to hoard event tickets

Post by Gryphonyx » Sat Aug 10, 2013 9:52 pm

A few years ago my cousin bought a couple of Beyonce tickets, waited till the official retailers had sold out, and sold them on for profit (with no intention of going to the show). During the run up to DMZs 8th birthday I saw a lot of people moaning about the same thing.

jw, do you consider it immoral (ie selfish) to do this, and does it make a difference whether it it a big name act with many shows or a relatively small party?

That is a very good question. On the one hand it's a clever but manipulative sales tactic. On the other it seems quite disrespectful to the artists and fans for that matter. Someone who really wanted to see the concert could have purchased the tickets at retail value. Instead you take someone's spot and scalp them. Overall not cool. Why buy something you have intention on using just to gouge people?

I would say for manufactured crap, yes, but it's still tight, so I'll say it's completely not on. Fucks over the real fans
