Re: Working Out....
Wow, so complicated. So when you're cut, what's your BF% or do you just go by mirror satisfaction? lol
Re: Working Out....
Yes :p I'm as low as 12% and probs no higher than 13. Judging from the mirror. If you don't have an accurate way of measuring, the mirror is the next best thing. Better than those handheld devices or scales anyway.
It used to be fucking hard for me to calculate it all, but it's pretty easy. I've done it so often I could probs calculate everything I need to know once I have my BMR (That I still need the formula for).

Do you use Mifflin-St Jeor?

Nah, Katch-McArdle. It's said to be the most accurate one!Laszlo wrote:Do you use Mifflin-St Jeor?

Re: Working Out....
You must have had your BF% measured/calculated then, surely..
Re: Working Out....
Nah, I just know I can't really be much higher than 13 or lower than 11 and I entered several different LBMs to check how much of a difference they make, like a long time ago, and it's small. Probably even smaller than the formula's overal accuracy (it's all still just en estimate). THOUGH. That's with my fat percentage range. I'd figure an obese man would have wildly different results from lean ol' me!
No matter how accurate the formula you use is, you always need to check your progress to make sure you're eating right. Like when I bulk weekly, I try to gain no more than 1 lb or less than half an lb per week. So that's how I know my caloric intake is good. I once calculated everything to be be at 2800 calories, but in practice, I was losing weight on that :p so I had to bulk at 3200! So these formulas are starting points.

Re: Working Out....

Re: Working Out....
Yeah I suppose so.. I'm not against bulking/cutting per se, just my calorific needs are a bit sporadic so keeping track would (presumably) be a bit of a ball ache. Again, I only really work out for fun/functional strength.
Re: Working Out....
Think it'd be wise to at least try to hit your maintenance tho. 100 or 200 above and below some days is alright. But everything benefits from getting your cals and macros.
I'm gonna start cooking big ass batches of rice and pasta and freeze them for my next bulk. Like 10 days worth of each. I already do something like that with meat/fish. Write up the calories/macros of each portion in my spreadsheet and shit. Then when I need it, I just heat that shit up, add the meat and any vegetable/topping/sauce I feel like that day. Not something you could use I guess, but for a serious bulker that's the way to go. I could just fry up some veggies, add my chicken, cook my frozen pasta, put it all in a bowl with some ketchup and have a snack in 5 minutes and easy to add variation to it

Re: Working Out....
Yeeeah BUT, some weeks i'll be sedentary as fuck, others i'll be working like a dog or somewhere in between. I also move around (geographically) a lot for work so cooking up big batches and freezing them wouldn't help.
I mean, my diet is okay and i'm not skinny nor fat. I think that's the best I can hope for!

Re: Working Out....
almost sounds like some sort of disorder you two are talking about. Why not just eat alright and move about a bit
Re: Working Out....
Because I enjoy lifting heavy objects repeatedly.... prolly something to do with the endorphins and shit.

Define eating alright and mvoing about a bit?DRTY wrote:almost sounds like some sort of disorder you two are talking about. Why not just eat alright and move about a bit
Oh yeah, times when you're less active, you shoudl eat less. but that's also true with bulking. If I know I can't do my cardio for a week or get ill I just cut down on calories.Laszlo wrote:Yeeeah BUT, some weeks i'll be sedentary as fuck, others i'll be working like a dog or somewhere in between. Re: Working Out....
Well my sense of hunger seems to sort out how much I eat quite well, just don't think I can be arsed with weighing shit every meal time. Sounds looooong.
