Best places for Producers on the internet

Post by outdropt » Tue Aug 13, 2013 6:40 pm

I thought it would be a good idea to create a post about the best places for a music producer on the internet. Of course DSF is the best place :dunce: , but what other outlets do you guys use?

What sites are good for finding new music?

What hashtags are popular among producers?

Who's good to follow, besides your favorite artists?

Any other good forums?

This time I'm not talking about marketing your music, tbh i'm just bored at work trying to find a good read or laugh.

As of right now DSF is one of the few outlets I have to a production community.

I like to go to some of the mag websites,

http://www.soundonsound.com/
http://www.musicradar.com/

but thats all i got

IDMforums.com is an amazing community with a netlabel. Lots of different kinds of music represented there. Their version of the Dubs board always has cool shit I wouldn't have heard otherwise. Lots of good hardware talk too.

+ 1 for KVR. If you every need a real review of just how good something is, thats the place to be.

I havent gotten too into Gearslutz, but they have some good info there.

http://www.dnbscene.com lots of good info here.

DOA seems kinda like a troll site to me (i hear it used to be good back in the day though)

If youre a guitar/bass/drummer or recording live music, 7string.org has a lot of really cool info over there.

Usually if I'm wondering something, I'll just ask the question into google and include gearslutz as a keyword at the end. Lots of professionals have posted on there.
One resource no ones mentioned yet is Tape Op. You can read it online for free and have it sent to your house for free. And they have a forum. I've learned things that I didn't know I didn't know from the magazine. Things about hardware I wouldn't have thought to wonder about in the first place.
