It's pretty depressing checking this thread out from time to time to only realize all growls suck after the SMANS one (including mine). I guess we will never discover how the hell Skrillex did it. Some of the efforts are pretty decent put let's admit it... the SMANS one is too powerful, the vowels are so defined without the ugly resonances that WOW filters and these vocoder attempts create, the texture isn't just there, they sound off. Plus when you try to get a mix as loud as Skrillex, it's impossible to fill all the sounds and make it sound as clear and loud as him. I guess we should just give up.

Well we seemed to already have given up which is why we now try to replicate other growls like xKore's or KTN's. The SMANS growls will remain a mystery for a very long time unless skrillex gives us more hints rather than just using FM8. The only accomplishment we made is that we got the modulation very close or even exact. There are many growls here that have full detail on how they were made.

Sound design is cool, but it's still got that kinda generic smooth/chilled/melodic vibe.

More than just EQ boosting, there's also a considerable amount of band removal. I will share the project (Sytrus, Parametric EQ 2, Effector, Fruity Limiter) if anyone really really wants it, but for the moment (and until I leave for boot camp in a few days), I'm gonna keep tweaking it and try to get some of the drive in there. Whatcha think, guys?

Now that you mentioned on not knowing where else to post it, we should make "The Random Bass Thread" were we only post basses other than reeses and growls such as lazers, doodads, screeches, and other shit that we randomly make.

I tried making a thread like this a couple days ago didnt get much attention besides a few of my m8 trying to get similar to sounds like the one i posted^
