Re: Syria: War Starting Thursday?
Isn't it at all possible another motive might be to try and stop more major war crimes from happening though?
Seems rather cynical to think it's all about oil or because they like war.. I don't think it's that naive to trust some
experts or UN reports, at least to some extent.

Re: Syria: War Starting Thursday?
lol @ war having humanitarian motives. Sorry, but Cameron is after some votes, William Hague loves slinging his missiles about and there are massive vested interests waiting to pounce on Syria when it finally crumbles to the ground.
It's awful, it really is.

We need to wait, all this shit got dragged out because NATO armed the minority. We should push for a political solution

Re: Syria: War Starting Thursday?
Looks like the UK opposition put Cameron back in his place and forced him to wait for the UN investigation report, good move

Re: Syria: War Starting Thursday?
^^ hope so
why is UK so gung-ho?
(France I can understand)
1300 people can be killed just as easily by conventional weapons.
I'm starting to contemplate Nostredamus' prediction coming true:
West v East
Sunni v Shia
Bear v Eagle
Frankly, I'd rather Alawites ruled than rebels won only to be overwhelmed by zealots.
Secular rebels need to ally with Asaad imo.

Hooray for labour- really didnt think they had it in them!
Re: Syria: War Starting Thursday?
should be more people on Saturday too. Can't see them paying any 'real' attention to the protests though but public awareness is better than nothing.
Shame to see it happening but i guess it's a $£,land and power opportunity. Does'nt make sense the Syrian Gov would use chemical weapons themselves, knowing the can of worms it would open.
Re: Syria: War Starting Thursday?
^ what i thought til news of Pine Gap communications intercept between Syrian Government bureaucrat & military head of chemical weapons
The bureaucrat was spewing, presumably because action was unauthorized,
possibly by a disaffected Sunni inside Syrian military
such perfidy and lying is the cultural norm,
so waiting for clarity is wise.
May the Gods grant you grace Obama.
Cos this could be CRUCIAL to our survival.
not that we should be worried...shit, including global destruction, happens.

Is anyone else suspecting that the rebels captured the chemical weapons and used them against their own ppl to gain support from the UN? No evidence for this but war makes ppl ruthless

False flag . At this stage it's dificult to prove. No one knows if it was fired from a plane (which would point to Assad) or a hand device that the rebels could have used. Also most of the victims were civilians and allegedly regulars were stationed next to the incident.
On the other hand the US claim to have intercepted a phone call between a defense official and the head of chemical weapons

mmmmmmmmyeahhh guess who's involved

Re: Syria: War Starting Thursday?
The amount of people affected by that attack as well, not sure if a rebel faction wouldve been able to execute something of that scale successfully, or even been able to get hold of chemical weaponry

I'm just saying, there's already thousands of people dying, I bet going to war is not going to help them, but
not going to war isn't a solution either.
What do you think are the options 'we' have and which is the best?

Unfortunately the majority of the UK will still be more concerned whether or not they can get 4g mobile signal or if joey Essex has got a new haircut.

Re: Syria: War Starting Thursday?
Don't really know about daily mail or foreign papers tbh but I reckon Del Ponte can be considered as reliable, anyway my point isn't that Assad didn't do it (circumstances point that he did), it's that making big moral statements and preparing for war without definitive proof is outrageous and a mockery of the UN which is supposed to preserve peace. It's warmongering and every government wants a piece of the moral glory. Let's just wait and see how this goes...JizzMan wrote:Nobody but the daily mail? So what you're saying is oil's the devil on earth? It's the cause of all wars with the east, as seen very much in iraq. As real as this is, i simply find it very hard to accept this as the faith of humans.
