another guy said he'd been working at a burger king for like 6 years and only got a .15 raise that whole time. that sucks. seriously.
but why the fuck did you not look elsewhere for work?

if you don't have skills, you're not going to make a very good living. and you probably shouldn't expect to.

Is it unreasonable to ask for a decent wage so you can actually live and breath? Don't have to worry all the time etc

Fucking conglomerates! I'm not so fond of pure socialism but we really need to do something about our competitive market. It's not really competitive because all of these companies are monopolizing and evading the laws against monopolizing the market by giving bussinness owners private portions of their franchise and taking a huge percentage of their income.

there was this bunch of idiots that got fired from a local independent liquor store for being late, lazy, etc.
they started picketing and tried to sue the business to get their jobs back, and were demanding $18/hr or something ridiculous.
what planet do these people live on?

A fair day's way for a fair day's work. Why do you think it's acceptable for an employer to pay a full time worker so little that they can't afford to support themselves, especially when they're turning a huge profit? The minimum wage is less than it was 30 years ago.

Oh yeah man I totally agree. It's kind of all relative though. If our market was balanced correctly, which means applying the rules of a none monopolistic economy, then these franchise owners wouldn't have to hand over so much money to these monster conglomerates. This would give business owners an opportunity to hire more workers and give higher wages.

I earn South African minimum wage, working in a retail store. 6 days a week, with 1 weekend off a month. No clothing packages are provided so I'm forced to buy clothes to work in. Bosses do everything they can to fuck us out of our incentives, I've never been paid my incentives that I've earned. I'll put it straight out there.

I earn 300 dollars a month for working those hours.

When I was living in Europe I could afford my own little apartment and I was getting by fine. No chance for that here, I've moved back in with my mother.

I feel like if I stay here I'm going to have to turn to selling drugs. So I'm taking every last cent I've managed to save and my music equiptment and moving to England.

Got a link? I don't think people should be assessed on their assets below a certain level. You could have picked it up in second-hand for 100 quid, you could save up all year on the dole for that or even have been given the fucking thing

Got a link? I don't think people should be assessed on their assets below a certain level. You could have picked it up in second-hand for 100 quid, you could save up all year on the dole for that or even have been given the fucking thing

It was some minister last year who try to propose a benefit type card that would replace cash and could only be spent on (as they see it) essentials things like food and bills, the mail of course jumped all over this with their usual uneducated plumb-mouthed garbage.

If working in a sweatshop or kebab shop for minimum wage that leaves you broke at the end of the month (unless it's 5 to a bedroom sharing potnoodles in a Newcastle squat) is thriving then yes, come here and fill your boots, the UK is about to get an influx of newer EU migrant workers, so you should be aware hostility towards migrants is high and there is ever more pressure on employers to supply young unemployed nationals with work so it might not be land of opportunity you're hearing about.
