Re: Brostep III - ßroClub
That makes sense I suppose. I have also met a lot of metal musicians that were cocky pricks, not my type of people. I can't stand holier than thou attitudes that's for sure.Maccaveli wrote:Devilsindub wrote:And macavelli, I apologize for calling you an idiot man. Your comment about metal heads being pretentious just pissed me off man. That was narrow minded IMO. Anyhow, I like to keep things positive so no hard feelings.![]()
Apology accepted man, and to be fair I was generalising way too much calling all metal heads pretentious so sorry for the inflammatory words. But you did say "All of my metal head friends agree that modern American dubstep is acceptable due to it being similarly brutal", which essentially reads as "We can't accept music unless it's brutal." So surely you can see how I interpreted it that way. And I have met quite a few metal heads who literally only listen to metal and classical music, then walk around acting like they're superior to everyone else. I'm glad you're not one of them.
As for the time signatures thing, you're just using the term wrong. You're just talking about
rhythms, time signature refers to how many beats are in a bar, and the vast majority of popular
Western music is in 4/4.

So out of curiosity, is Flux Povillian considered Brostep or no? I'm not too genre savvy I guess.

Re: Brostep III - ßroClub
Listen to what you like imo, doesnt matter if its considered brostep or not. But if you do like aggressive stuff theres a whole lot of genuinely good shit out there that you're missing out on if you just stick to skrillex and flux though. Check out this thread for some insane music: www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=238892Devilsindub wrote:So out of curiosity, is Flux Povillian considered Brostep or no? Not gunna lie, I hated pretty much every tune on that 'most brutal drops' vid, like I say it just seems over the top and tacky as opposed to genuinely hard hitting. When I hear it I don't think "fuck that's hard", I think "lol they're trying too hard"Devilsindub wrote:Sykth was fucking amazing! Too bad they're not around anymore. The one place I can direct you to is "the most brutal drops" on YouTube. Can't give you a link because I'm on an iPad and it will crash if I try. Excision is a good example. Also check out schoolboy. Some of their stuff has pretty heavy metal influences. I don't know a lot of the producers names on the brutal drops comp but it has some really good stuff on it. On the front page of that comp you'll see half of a chicks face, with all the saturation taken out, with bright red blood streaks running down her. Did you ever see Sykth live?
I will admit some of Excision's earlier stuff is decent but he's trying too hard to be really in your face these days and it actually detracts from the impact of the tunes in my opinion, this one still goes hard though
Yeah, I've seen Sikth 3 times before, I was at their final ever show, absolutely amazing band... But anyway, I digress, In terms of metal influence on dubstep you really can't do much better than checking out Distance
Those basslines are practically guitar riffs!

Different strokes my friend, it's all good. All I can do is know what I love to write and write it, musically of coarse. On the topic of Sikth, sorry for the thread hi jack btw, the drummer and bassist were the most impressive working members I have ever seen in a performance. They were like bread and butter. Meshuggah was also one of the best bands I've ever seen live. Their timing is absolutely impeccable. Don't know if their are a lot of metal fans on this forum being that it is a dubstep forum. Otherwise I would probably make a metal appreciation thread. I also digress.particle-jim wrote:Not gunna lie, I hated pretty much every tune on that 'most brutal drops' vid, like I say it just seems over the top and tacky as opposed to genuinely hard hitting. Fuck it I'm just going to make one and see what happens
. It would go in the SNH I'm assuming? Since it's off topic to dubstep and all.

Re: Brostep III - ßroClub
What. The. Fuck. has happened to the bro thread? Whats all this about metal. I need my daily dose of ear rape weight. Some one send me down some tight brostep dubplates before i get on youtube and shout at skrillex fans for not listening to real dub like zomboy!
Re: Brostep III - ßroClub
The Upbeats' song "Alone" was their best track IMO.
I got bored and found this track. I googled Dev and saw a nice picture
