rum is good as well!
unwillingly tried rum+vodka once though (we had some terrible cheap vodka and no more sprite so had to nick something to dilute it, got some orange juice from a fridge which turned to actually be rum orange) and that was some of the worst things i've ever drank. only topped by melon orange i think

just can't see the point - if you're going for vodka why not just drink it straight, if you want to dilute it why not use something else to give it a taste?

its for your bodys sake, not for taste or anything. having vodka + water is going to keep your body and brain a lot more hydrated, making your mornings are a lot better as well (provided you don't drink other sugary drinks). that all being said i dont mind the taste at all; i drink most of my liquors on ice with no mix. i wouldn't mix a quality vodka with water, but it makes a shit one a lot better.

Plenty of whisky aficionados take their whisky with water - the burn-effect of neat spirits can cause you to only taste the alcohol spoiling all those fancy wood and peat notes - adding some water or letting a couple of ice cubes melt whilst you're drinking reduces the burn and allows the flavour to breath. It's personal preference as apposed to anything to do with overcoming poor quality.

I've just never enjoyed the flavour of vodka enough to want to concentrate on it, personally... mix that shit or shoot it!

I once got made to do a "flatliner" shot.

1 shot of sambuca with a layer of tabasco then a shot of tequila floated on top.
