blastbeat double bass heavy drumming??

Post by breachofpolice »

How do you do it? tried working in many different BPM's to no avail, I want like a Zomboy type double bass kicker, not really a huge fan just like the drumming style, the very synthetic sounding double bass.

anyone got any hints or tips? I even tried loading a bass drum sample into my DAW double it up and exporting it to my tracker but that just sounded nasty...

this is really confusing me now please help....

I use Reaper/Audacity and Geist :)

Tbh your post makes no sense... by double bass kicker do you just mean the drum rolls/builds?

If so, find a punchy kick sample and pretty much remove all but the transient of the drum - this'll give you a punch but will ensure when you create a drum roll/build that it doesn't get messy. You could EQ or use a transient shaper to make it punchier too.

Then just create the roll by laying out the notes... there's no secret tips.

2 hits of the bass drum for every note... But i want to try and get 3 or 4 in.

Sorry just started using "Drumkit from hell!" and it is confusing the hell out of me, not used to EZdrummer what so ever, I can't seem to get the desired speed, when i input notes its to slow, when i change the tempo it sounds rushed not clean...

I have no idea what that is, doesn't Reaper just have a piano roll of some sort where you can track drums?
I made this in FL in like 2 mins, if parts of this are what you're after I'll explain more.

This images shows the midi day for the drums and the velocities... you simply need to double up hits and alter the velocity to suit (i.e. on a double hit the first kick will be slightly quieter/lower velocity)

It sounds like your grid is set to a lower beat denomination than your trying to input. Like if its set to 8th notes and your trying to get a 16th note double bass roll.

Bit of an extreme solution to an issue with drums though, isn't it? Getting a new DAW and Drum VST just to resolve this issue seems like a bit of overkill.
