Going to some Shogun audio party in a few weeks for a mates leaving party (going back to Australia). Only guy Im familiar with is Rockwell. Everyone gets a 2 hour set so he should play some of the juke/808 stuff so im not totally lost all night
Friction, Spectrasoul, Rockwell, Icicle, Technimaticand guest Mefjus
Re: Deep, dark, dangerous DnB!
You should get familiar with Spectrasoul, especially the older stuff, and Icicle, not too bothered about Friction or Mefjus personally

Yeah In my head Friction is like Dj Fresh, I have absolutely no idea why
Any mixes would be handy by any of them, going to brush up on my dnb over the coming weeks.
Im hoping for a set like his Boiler room one but we shall see, Im sure hes the one guy of that lot that will play stuff outside of DnB anyways.johney wrote:lemme know what he plays, i'm seeing him (and warming upJohnlenham wrote:Going to some Shogun audio party in a few weeks for a mates leaving party (going back to Australia). Re: Deep, dark, dangerous DnB!
He's the king of drum sounds. But I think it's all in the mixdown and sample choice. Seenhis tut online? He does minimal layering and lots of saturation. Doesn't do a million sounds either or hurt the original sounds by EQ'ing it to oblivion.3rdeye wrote:^ love the drum sound on that one, been trying to recreate the snare without success lol
I think his drums stand-out by dominating the mix. His basses have very few highs and there isn't much going on in the melodies either. Also clever sound placement between the drum sounds is another thing he does well.

@ Outlook last year Rockwell played for around 90-120 mins & it was sick. First hour or so was 120-130bpm, (Bax into Getting Me DownJohnlenham wrote: Yeah In my head Friction is like Dj Fresh, I have absolutely no idea why![]()

Icicle has proper improved his DJing. Man is a sick selector.
If he does anything like this you're in for a treat. (Icicle's from 3hr52mins)
