This kind of tonal sound

Post by tomz » Fri Sep 13, 2013 11:29 am

Hey guys, I was listening to this track earlier today (Braindead by Zomboy), and there was this one sound that caught my attention, it reminded me to the kind of drill sound on the drop of Skrillex's remix of Levels, to which I found no one has come even close (no tut on yt to even get a hint where to start). While its not the same sound, it has this kind of tonal quality to it (not growly) which boggles me... I don't know where to even start.

The sound i'm talking about is this one:

Does any of you guys have any clue on how to get that kind of sounds, any pointers, hints where to start?

Thanks!

There seems to be two parts of the sound.
And they both sound like a vocal sample.

The high pitch part is just a square wave.
A little tune of mine :D

Yeah, upon close listening, I believe you're right that there are 2 different layers, the high pitch sound kind of a straight filtered square or something and there's some other patch underneath it.

Sounds like a "lazer" used in typical brostep songs. Tut:

I make music, and I came here to discuss it. If you want to hit me up on skype, its jimbo_tulpa_slice, and my FB is Logan Patchwirk Winterhelt.

Also, why do people always put Skrillex and deadmau5 together and think it would be awesome, it wouldn't.
