Dubstep? First attempt at a none "Brostep" track

Post by Devilsindub » Sun Sep 22, 2013 8:48 pm

This is my first attempt at electronic music without the so called Brostep sound. I really don't know what genre it fits in. If anyone could give me some feedback I would really appreciate it. For people that listen to dubstep, could you please let me know if I'm headed in the right direction in terms of real dubstep? Thanks.

p.s. Just as a warning, the mix is horrible and I still need to add more to it

aye sounds cheeky
its fairly mello

but everyone has their own idea of what 'real' dubstep is and theres a fairly huge variety of sounds that fall under dubstep.
it doesnt sound like brostep though so uve achieved that

 I meant no disrespect but I guess I can see how it came across that way. I really do want to branch out and experiment with different music types. The Brostep stuff is new too. I've played in a plethora of styles, I'm not one to get stuck inside the box. But thanks for verifying my departure from said brostep sound :)

Oh ok :D I actually had to look the word up  Not to familiar with slang from outside the U.S. I listen to everything pretty much man. Actually my favorite artist who ever lived is Glenn Miller, but I grew up listening to NIN and Tool. I just recently got into EDM so my knowledge of it is very limited. I just write what ever I think sounds good and try to satisfy the music monster in my head. It's the worst and best addiction I've ever had  Being on this forum has definitely helped me expand my horizons though.

cheeky is slang among me and my irl m9s afaik, idk if other places in the UK use it loads

was in amsterdam a few years ago; my mates vocabulary broke when he was on shrooms, he started describing literally everything he saw as "cheeky" "naughty" or "hot". heard those words so much they got ingrained into us all

and n1 safe man variety is the spice of life. i cant really listen to metal music myself though

if ur looking for "real" dubstep i cant recommend Chord Marauders enough. the best thing to happen to dubstep in ages imo, theyre pure class

very cool man thanks for the recommendation. Not all metal is good. I'm actually not really into American metal. I really like Swedish rhythmic metal. Don't know if you've ever given these guys a listening to, but check out Meshuggah. They perfected the art of rhythmic metal. Particularly in the song Bleed. But if you're not into metal than you're just not into it. Thought I'd try.
