New software. ISSE.

Post by Shum » Wed Oct 16, 2013 4:58 am

http://isse.sourceforge.net/
In applications such as audio denoising, music transcription, music remixing, and audio-based forensics, it is desirable to decompose a single-channel recording into its respective sources. To perform such tasks, we present ISSE - an interactive source separation editor (pronounced "ice") to perform source separation by painting on time-frequency visualizations of sound. For a better idea of what you can do with ISSE, please see our video demo below.

The software is a free, open source project developed by Adobe Research and the Music, Computing, and Design Group (MCD) at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA), Stanford University and licensed under the GNU General Public License, Version 3.
Thought you lot might find this interesting. Feedback greatly appreciated.

http://www.klingbeil.com/spear/ This exists and it can do the same things. Also you can do this with Harmor too, it isn't really a new idea.

Still cool though.

The problem with this method is sometimes sounds share the same partials and unless you do VERY fine editing you wont even come close to the original audio stems.

Also, sometimes when a sound moves wildly across the spectrum it can be hard to select the sound you want.

Out of Harmor, Spear and ISSE, Harmor is my favorite, simply because it can do automatic gaining and automatic denoising, it is also seemingly more precise.

Harmor does cost 150 more than ISSE or Spear though

Downloading, seems to be fucking great. I'll try to accomplish something with it and I'll post the results.

Edit: I failed. I failed horribly. The training brush is great though.

http://www.karaoke-version.com

It's meant for karaoke, lol. But for 2$ you can get the original stems for tons of hit songs. great for grabbing a cappelas

Yes, I just recently found it.

One thing it has over Harmor or Spear is stereo sound though.

Although you could use part A/B in Harmor as your left/right channel for resynthesis.
