Yes, I am born and raised in Canada, but my roots come from slavery. My community was founded by African American slaves who were lucky enough to escape the US in the 1800's.

I don't think its impossible for a non-american to understand the history of slavery, anyone can understand it. Having an African American as the lead could have done wonders for black culture in North America. I had a full spiel written about it, maybe I'll just get drunk and PM you with it.
