Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
My mum had a Micra when I was about 11? What a bag of shit.
My housemate had the same damn model until about 4 months ago.

One of the best conversations I ever had with my Mum went something like:
My friend Joy's getting a new car.
- Oh nice, what's she getting?
A Nissan Micra.
- *jokingly* Oh right, is she retiring then?
She just has, yes.
The older ones are solid as fuck though...
Prime stock car material, I reckon.

First car I can remember was my dads Quattro, proper ashes to ashes style.
I used to think it was real futuristic because it had a "digital" speedo (it was like an old school calculator screen)

I had one of these

It had some sort of special edition pink, purple and cream striped interior with a see through pink diamond shaped gear stick.

The Quattros were mint, reminded me a lot of original (?) VW Sirocco from years back.southstar wrote:First car I can remember was my dads Quattro, proper ashes to ashes style.

Mine had a Granada, two Montegos, Carina then a Seat Toledo. All proper 'Dad Sedans'magma wrote:My Dad drove a succession of Ford Granadas.

My dad had a black 1970s TVR 1600M with the replaced engine I mentioned (which he had to use two batteries to start, I think it' had something to do with the ridiculously high compression ratio or something)
and a 60s Cadillac Eldorado
and a Range Rover. All at the same time. So I reckon that's pretty good going
Also Magma that's crazy about the Mini. Would be such a difficult choice but I think you did the right thing though really. I mean could you enjoy it that much knowing you got it from ripping of an old lady from down the street to you?

Lancia Delta anyone? The Quattro gets me hard but Delta's make me moist. Shame about their price tag eh...

I prefer the Lancia Delta to Quattros really yeah
Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
Lancias were hideously unreliable, probably why there's so few of them left

Yep.. I'd take a Quattro any day if I was actually going to drive it. And even then I'd be thinking about whether I should just get a Celica GT4 (which would no doubt end up in me scrapping the rally idea entirely and buying my boyhood dream Supra)southstar wrote:Lancias were hideously unreliable, probably why there's so few of them left
I saw a Delta being properly opened up around Castle Coombe a few years ago... incredible sound and pretty fucking rapid for a 20 year old car, but ragging it around a track must be like practising your juggling with a Ming vase. I doubt there's much spare bodywork lying around for them...

Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
Haveonly had my 205 til now but my dad has a history with cars
one was a 1st generation 1979 suzuki alto

One day my dad noticed the rust had dug a hole through the foothold for the passenger's seat (didn't see it til then because of the rug placed), I could see the road moving below the car
got rid of it as fast as we could. And my god look at those rear view mirrors. One of the worst ideas ever.
Then he got one of these badboys

red pug 304 convertible. My dad bought it in summer and when the rain came the roof was leaky as fuck, waited til next summer to sell it back. I had my glory moment every morning at school for 2 months though so totally worth it.
Now he drives a merc 250D

Ultimate old man car. You couldn't get a speeding ticket if you tried
Edit: He also confessed to me that he once owned a Lotus Esprit
