So...NYE 2013?

Post by wub » Wed Nov 06, 2013 11:13 am

It's the time of the year where the prices go up and the nights gets pack up and even the local pub thinks it's a good shout to charge £15 to get in. What's everyone got on the cards (potentially) for the event?

Will be in London visiting some mates. GF and I are trying to angle towards a house party thing, but people are leaning towards going out, so options being mooted are;

XOYO w/ Tensnake, Jacques Lu Cont, Alex Metric

London O2 w/ Prodigy, Rudimental (DJ set), Jaguar Skills, and Modestep

Brixton Academy pres. Last Night On Earth w/ Sasha, Ellen Allien, Guy Gerber

Of those, Brixton looks the least shit, plus we missed Gerber in Ibiza this year so could be a good craic. Prodigy would be quality but the O2 is a tnuc to get away from at the best of times, and Modestep can fucking do one

Those nights are awful...

If I was forced to go to one I would probably pick Brixton I guess

Yep, but it's the general consensus and the majority of this group of friends has different music tastes from myself, so we'd be pushing it find something to please everyone...barring a Carl Cox night, maybe.

Considering System, but may still be in the Westcountry... though after watching the last week of fireworks from our balcony, we're pretty tempted to be at home for midnight so we can watch the City explode and go out after.

Fuck New Year's Eve. Me and my mates have done New Year's Eve Eve for the last few years. Usually still lively as people are off work/warming up for the night after, not ridiculously busy everywhere and shit doesn't cost an amazing amount.

NYE then is either a house party of cotching with Jools Holland and his fucking Hootenanny of White Folk.

Hoping the house party suggestion gets a bit more steam, TBH.

System is my back up option but id hope for a party. I would rather not go out that go to another fucking awful club suggested by some mutant friend of a friend of a friend again.

I usually try to go out with all my close friends but I have a feeling it wont go that way this year.

My options in order of preference

1. Reggae Roast in Brixton, line up yet to be announced but it'll be decent.
2. System, Will be sick but not many of my group of friends would be overly keen
3. House Party at my mum and dads (if I can get them to fuck off for the weekend)

Normally the house party would be top of the list but I'd feel bad fucking up the house considering I don't live there any more.

Our biggest problem is getting 10+ people to London and back.

Not much been announced as of yet, but possible:

Subculture NYE with Andrew Weatherall Harri and Domenic & Telford at Sub Club

Tiger & Woods and Space Dimension Controller are playing a night with the Dixon Avenue Basement Jam guys which could be fun.

Andrew Weatherall is like £22 now all the early birds are gone, so most likely won't go that. Holding out for a house party really tbh, might just do what I done last year and have people round mine, not really a party but like ~10-15 mates, was pretty fun actually and didn't have to worry about fucking up my parents house

22 quid doesn't seem that bad? I'm expecting to pay around €30-35 entry.

Anyway, probably playing some tunes at a house party. Not sure what's next,
like Liam said, not a lot of stuff is announced yet for some reason.
Only thing that caught my eye is a dj harvey night.

Yeah, I suppose so, just I seen him earlier this year for 8 quid haha. Early birds were only £11, feel like that's fully ripping you off, charging double for later tickets tbh.

Space Dimension Controller is only 12 quid for earlies, so might get my act together and go that. There's a few nights with unannounced lineups so I'm a bit worried that I get a ticket and something far better gets announced

System.

Up for it as hopefully will gather a small crew & treat it as just another System & avoid the normal NYE hysteria/herd mentality of everyone wanting to go to whatever everyone else is going to just because "its NYE & ur sposed to be with ALL your mates" no matter how shite & rammed the night is.
