Ableton Vocoder Discussion (mainly FM/ Growl Bass modulator)

So I just wanted to talk to/ get everyone's thoughts or opinions on the Ableton Vocoder.
To start, I think it's amazing when used properly, but is kinda iffy to get right. I've tried a number of different voice clips and basses, none of which have worked out too well, Sometimes I get a good one but it's sort of a guess and check for me.
Also, if anyone has tips on good FM/Voice pairs that work well for them, feel free to share, I'd love to hear how you guys do it.

Also, this isn't a "how do I make this sounds thread" but the bass/ style of bass under discussion here is that of the vocoder super growls with tons of movement like MUST DIE! uses aswell as many other artists.
