hah this happens to me a lot too
Double clicking ff's little arrows to scroll through the tabs moves one screen width worth of tabs in one shot. Still takes time for mega browsing sessions.
Clicking ff's little down carrot at the right side of the tabs bar will show you vertical text list of all open tabs, you'll get a little black triangle on tabs that are playing media.
