Re: ElectricHead - JJ (WIP) Deep/Tribal/Psychedelic
Was only thinking the other day I hadn't heard anything from you for a while
Liking the swirling on the intro, though it goes on slightly longer than I would have made it for the opening bars. Liking those modulated stabs that come in with the subby kick, really good atmosphere. Use of panning is also spot on, got a proper ping pong effect thing going on, gives it a big sound.
Beat progression is good, nice bit of movement/shuffle to get the head bopping going. Atmosphere/build on the break is well done with that long note and the percussion slowly ramping up. After the break the beat develops further, so you don't fall into loop territory (good on a tune this long). Also digging that percussion variation at the end to keep the interest going.
Overall, good tune and sounds like a good job on the mastering too. Wouldn't mind a 320 if there is one going

Re: ElectricHead - JJ (WIP) Deep/Tribal/Psychedelic
Thanks for the positive feedback Wub.
I'm busy working on a few things.
Looking to get a bit more sparkle and oompf out of the mix.
Project EX has offered to run it through his SSL compressor to hear what difference it would make.
Regarding the swirling in the start, I'm leaning towards agreeing with you.
As I've listened through I've noticed one or 2 things in the intro that imo are unnecessary.
The pad I use in the start has so much texture that I think the swirl becomes a deterrent in many respects.
As soon as I'm happy I'll send some copies out.

Nothing about the mixdown jumped out at me (on my Sennheisers ATM) as being particularly out of place or lacking.

There's just a bit of balancing required and maybe a fine tooth comb to enhance a sound or 2.
Minor but it's still something I hear and want to change.

Re: ElectricHead - JJ (WIP) Deep/Tribal/Psychedelic
I really like this
few things I noticed:
-drums come in awkwardly imo, though once they do kick in they're really good. I could hear them coming in a bit more gradually, but this just boils down to aesthetic choices.
-the chant is pretty low in the mix, it doesn't have much impact and is kinda just there
-I agree with what both you and wub have said about the intro
-that distorted bassline… I love it.
-the break and buildup is really nice
The first half, before the break, doesn't really do justice to how the track builds into a tribal monster, but that might just be me. Would love a 320 of this too once it's done.

Re: ElectricHead - JJ (WIP) Deep/Tribal/Psychedelic
yea imo the drums come in too suddently the first time and second time
could maybe do with cuttin the kicks or bass the second time to give em more impact when they come back in, enjoying the build with the delays n stuff tho!
also enjoying how the drums get spiced up in the last section
all in all its soundin real nice man, the mixdown is fairly spot on too (-:
well done!!

The_disconekt - I didn't respond to your post, apologies.
Thanks for the feedback.
We all seem to hear similar things.
The track needs a bit of finessing.
I'm on it though.
Just a few days until World Domination.
Cheers Disconekt
