garagey dubstep

Post by bennyfroobs » Wed Nov 20, 2013 5:33 pm

been rinsing old sets i have saved that date from 2002ish, i love that sound of the transition period between garage and dubstep. but i dont really know the names of many people who do these sorta tunes cos i only got into dubstep like 06/07 (northernness...)

im talking stuff like:
Zed Bias, Menta, DJ Abstract, El-B, Horsepower & Benny Ill, DJ Dinesh, Steve Gurley

and also newer stuff like:
Pangaea - You & I, Memories etc
Pariah - Orpheus, Crossed out etc
Sully, J-One, some FaltyDL tunes

help a brotha find some choonz

no bait soulless future garage plz tho

mmm. where do u draw the line between bait future garage and garagey dubstep? orpheus for example is pure "future garage", in all it's burial-esque, pad-filled essence. biggest tune ever thou, no disrespek

falty dl tunes, such as all my friends say on the other hand are just garage

personally i'd say that those pariah tunes are just dubstep with garagey drums, similar to router / you & i, but if u wanna call it future garage then w/e, doesnt matter to me, i'm just looking for tunes that sound similar to the artists i posted. the last thing i care about is some sort of retarded genre war, leave tht shit for the youtube comments

i just said no soulless bait future garage, if its good shit like sully and pariah then im all ears

Some early Mark One as well, although its more grime influenced rather than garagey but theres some stuff similar to the stuff Horsepower and the like were making.

Toasty, Search & Destroy obvious choices too.

All Benny Ill stuff, not just horsepower.. done bits with Hatcha, as Dub War, this...

Bit obvious so I'm not gonna post, but THE tune of this sound for me has got to be Red.

oh man... sorry topmo3 m8, i misread what u posted, thought u were being narky but what u said was very reasonable. only had 3 hours sleep, been on a grouch spree. totally my bad :w:

nah man, please recommend some more artists :D actraiser, late and jus wan were all new names to me. always liked stuff like this but never known who to listen out for or what labels to check out (aside from the obvious ones most people know, like old tempa releases)

& muncey the first dub war release is one of my faves from tempa :D. so sick

Darqwan >>>>

Speaking of him does anybody have audio of the tune with Ms Dynamite? Oris Jay & Ms Dynamite - Tes Dis. Its the final song on Mary Anne Hobbs final R1 show but all I can find from that show is the Burial & Kode 9 mix :(

Some of the early DMZ was blatant dark garage
