I've given this a modicum of thought, and I don't believe this is accurate.

And again, I support you in what ever process you employ to achieve results you're happy with. But your attempts to justify the utility of vengence samples are laughable. I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I'm in two minds, TBH. I've long held an opinion that if Coki came in and posted Horrid Henry in Dubs board (having never released it), he'd get slated for it being weak sounding tearout, and told that his mixdown needs work.

:a: Coki is not my favorite producer.

No, I get your point though. Maybe they'd be right? I don't know.

That's because it's true. If he posted Shattered or Haunted, different story.

Pretty sure if Bonobo showed up and started talking shop, I'd instantly recognize him as a badman. Knowing your shit is the difference between getting lucky with a few bangers, and having a whole catalogue full of pristine tracks

This thread sucks.

Yes they're legal to use.

The only people who will chastise you for using Vengeance samples are the ones who are making shit tier music.

Discussion over.

I could just as easily say the only people using Vengeance samples are the ones making garbage beatport-wannabe youtube-tutorial bangers. But there's not really much to substantiate that either, is there?

Discussion over! Ok Dad.

Indeed, there is tons and tons of information to substantiate the contrary: Vengeance samples are used by tons of people, including the top of the charts producers.

Whereas I have this thread, and every other thread just like it on DoA, DSF, GHS, IDMF and the like to substantiate my claim.

All right Jean-Claude, and mromgwtf for that matter, I've got 100 bigups that says SunkLo can outproduce both of your asses in a four bar drum line with his dusty ass samples while you guys use your hyped vengence samples. BudSpencertron can act as judge, someone unaffiliated with SunkLo, or myself, whose production skills are quite high and whose taste is not aligned with either Jean-Claude, mromgwtf, or SunkLo.

If those are the guys most deserving of respect in your opinion then Vengeance samples are probably something you'll enjoy using a lot. I bet there's some cool massive presets out there for you as well. Whereas if someone's reading this thread who doesn't wanna sound like a beatport carbon copy and would rather do sound design themselves to develop their own sonic identity, they're probably not gonna find much value in Vengeance samples and would do better to spend their money elsewhere.

None of the producers whom I listed above sound anything like another, and what's more, they're all monumentally more talented at producing and standing out than you are.

The jump from "if you like using pre-made drum samples, you must want to use pre-made EVERYTHING!" is wholly fallacious. This quick jump to "vengeance samples are for beatport copy cat drones only" is fallacious and ignorant just the same. You're a disappointment, SunkLo. This argument isn't even the slightest bit amusing. I'm going to dip if all you have is just "those producers suck and all sound the same and also beatport"

Yeah instead of acknowledging the fact that you're flat out wrong and can't substantiate your claims, you'll quote me out of context to make it look like I'm running away from an argument in which you're unable to follow through with a rational rebuttal. It stands to reason, of course, because there is no rebuttal you could possibly muster for what you're attempting to argue. You're flat out wrong and there isn't an ice cube's chance in hell you could hope to prove what you're claiming is true.

If you disagree, please, feel free to try and prove that those producers are in fact NOT more talented at producing than you, NOT standing out more than you are, and that Vengeance samples are ONLY used by goons who want to sound like their favorite artists on Beatport and watch youtube tutorials to get their sounds thrown together. Be my guest. You have posted a lot. Where's your music?

It's plain as day how baseless your claims in this thread are, and that you have an irrational elitist attitude towards music and music production. That kind of attitude has no place in the scene. Make good music, stop masturbating about how pure your beats are because you abstain from using Vengeance samples, and stop hating and being jealous of other producers for allowing themselves to make epic tunes using the samples they please.

I wasn't implying you were running away from the argument, I was implying you were running away from the gauntlet nwjeez threw down.

Are those producers more talented than me? At making club bangers maybe. I could probably school most of them in a producing from scratch competition though. No presets, no premade samples, etc. They also make music that I strongly hate though, so it's apples to oranges. They are standing out more than I am, of course. Much like that drunk guy that likes to stand on tables at parties. Not my style.

Are Vengeance samples ONLY used by beatport wannabes? No of course not, all it would take for that to be untrue would be a single person who's not making that kind of music. I'm sure there's people out there who use them out of habit or laziness or because they heard they were good and don't really give a fuck, etc. But I can make generalizations. And it isn't that absurd of a generalization to say that a lot of people who are too lazy to make their own drum sounds are also probably too lazy to make their own synth patches. If we look at things logically, why would pre-made samples appeal to someone who likes to craft their own sounds? If I'm just gonna mangle things beyond recognition, why would I fork out money for Vengeance samples when I can just synthesize or sample something for free?

I'm sorry if your butt got hurt but it's silly to deny the kernel of truth in what I'm saying. Like I said, if you wanna be like skrillex and avicii et al. then you'll probably like Vengeance samples. All the power to you. But you can't try to play both sides of the fence and claim that these overprocessed samples aren't specifically targeted at people who just wanna produce by numbers. Maybe you're in denial about what kind of producer you or your heroes are and that's why you get offended. Not my problem.
