Apparently Olympic bars at 20kg, though I weighed the long bar at my gym I used to bench with and it's only 10kg.Laszlo wrote:Not just you, no. So is that the industry standard then? hmmm, looks like i'm hencher than I thought

Re: Working Out....
Went hard today on chest & biceps. Starting to see some nice definition in my legs.
Re: Working Out....
STILL DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE I SHOULD DO. POWER CLEANS OR DEADS. Blah, I think I'll do deads. I know I can do them and I won't have to fiddle with form for 6 weeks.

Re: Working Out....
Dumbell curls > barbel curls. By a fucking long shot. Jesus it's not even the same exercise.

Re: Working Out....
Don't think I've ever curled with a BB to think of it? I do EZ bar curls w/ OH grip for my forearms though.
Re: Working Out....
Edited because of bullshit/bad advice/new evidence has come to light/ etc.

Re: Working Out....
Nah, I'm comparing the distinct feeling of doing curls now with when I did them with a barbell. Feels like I'm activating more.
Palm position has little to do with effectiveness and more with WHAT is targeted. For example, hammer curls add more width but less thickness compared to regular curls. Also target forearms more.
Dumbells are better than barbells IN GENERAL too. Less assymetry because when you load a barbell with weight and use both arms, the stronger arm will help out the weaker one. Where you're effectively training one arm more than the other. With dumbells, you tend to stop when your weaker arm gives out.
Benching too. Dumbells increase your range of motion, allowing you to activate more of your chest. Yeah, barbell benches may allow you to push more overal weight, but that's because of the limited range of motion.

Re: Working Out....
Perhaps anybody in here can help me. I'm thinking about starting to use some supplement just for a better recovery and hoping signs of overtraining and injuries will be less this way. But I have no idea about any of these things.
So can anybody gives me some info on Whey, L Glutamine and BCAA's. What does each of those do in particular and which you would recommend? Would be very helpfull because there is so much info on the internet about it I don't know where to start..

Re: Working Out....
How can I wear myself out without using my feet? Getting very bored with this sprained ankle. Can do upper body at the gym but I want to lose as little cardio gains as possible...
Re: Working Out....
High reps high sets, Super setting, try 20 push ups --> 20 pull ups --> 20 dips. Great cardio work out.
Re: Working Out....
I'm sure Gen can give you solid info as to the whys BUT the bottom line is - all you need is whey (it's just protein which is what your body needs to build/repair muscle) and creatine.Jurrecane wrote:Perhaps anybody in here can help me. L Glutamine is shite. A waste of money, you don't need it.
BCAA have their place if you're a high end bodybuilder on a cut but it's also (as in for most people) bollocks. You get enough of what it is in the rest of your diet (if your diet is somewhat on point that is)
Yeah try upper body circuits b2b breath restriction.garethom wrote:How can I wear myself out without using my feet? Getting very bored with this sprained ankle. Can do upper body at the gym but I want to lose as little cardio gains as possible...
Re: Working Out....
Is there any supplement that doens't make me grow to much? I don't really want to gain a lot of weight as i'm focusing on gymnastics stuff.
