Should I Buy These Studio Monitors?
Hey fam, I just saw these monitors and fell in love with them: Behringer - Truth B2030A Studio Monitor.
http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/B2030A.aspx
*Epic side note, Truth is in the name, and TRUTH is a sick dubstep group. Got a Truth sticker ready for one lol
I don't know much about monitors, but apparently they have a 50hz response rate; some have 60, 40, etc... I'm looking to use these monitors for dungeon, deeper dubstep, tribal etc.. Would you recommend these based on the specs and other technical aspects? I have somebody living in the basement, so I don't want to get anything too loud, and I'm on a budget.
Thanks!

Go listen to them and compare them to others, at least one other similar model with a similar price, before you put any money down.

my roommate has a pair. they are nice but he says my monitors are better and mine are the same price. i'd have to agree, they sound more tinny and not quite as full compared to mine. still a solid monitor for the price, well reviewed.

Looking to get it used from a classified ad. Seemed like the most decent pair for their price ($130.) Don't really have much money to spend on expensive monitors

Roll the dice, take a risk. If you get them and they don't work out for you, put for sale again at $150 (ONO). When someone gets in touch, let them haggle you back down to $130, and you've not lost any money.
Re: Should I Buy These Studio Monitors?
I have experience with them. Completely masks the high end, boomy lows, lots of mud. Avoid at all cost. Even hi-fi speakers are more revealing.

These monitors are actually tested to be really flat. Not any good, but they are flat
I will (surprisingly) recommend to use headphones. I haven't got any proper monitors, but I work in studios with Genelec mains for example. Think I'll be using headphones at home until I get out of student housing and can afford something like a Neumann (k&h) set.

Then there must be a lot more to it than flatness because I couldn't hear what the fuck was going on. Especially in the high end.AxeD wrote:These monitors are actually tested to be really flat. Not any good, but they are flat

There's quite a bit more yeah. Most people are all concerned when they buy an amp for example,
but when they buy active monitors no one even seems to care
I think the low end on those Truth speakers is not controlled at all.

Despite what they sound like I'd be concerned buying a used Berhinger product. There products are known for trying emulating popular high end gear for a low price. Sometimes the products function pretty well, but the build quality is quite poo on a lot of their products. I've worked on and owned a few Berhinger products and they all had build quality issues.
EDIT: Not saying don't buy them, but might want to check some user reviews to see what the build quality is like.
EDIT to the EDIT: Personally I'd spend the 130 on headphones.

I personally would never touch Berhinger.

They made one of the best compact digital mixers though.Capture pt wrote:I personally would never touch Berhinger.

The BCR and BCF are both pretty tits as well. Great value. However I have their 2442 Eurorack ProFX 24 channel mixer and its a huge piece of bloody dog poo. Lots of options for the money, but the thing fucking fell apart after being used for a couple years of doing business seminars. Even housed in a sturdy travel rack case...AxeD wrote:They made one of the best compact digital mixers though.Capture pt wrote:I personally would never touch Berhinger.
