Barish @ Garden of Five Senses - New Delhi, India Dubstep

My bad for taking so long to post this up.
Getting a hold of the photos/videos in phases plus a hectic work schedule made things slow movin...

But almost a month later I'm still buzzing about what happened at Barish. Delhi nightlife can really be a drag at times dabbling in 5 star hotel clubs, posh restaurant bars, and listening to homogeneous deejay lineups. Even though there is a lot of talent here pushing new sounds, they don't always get the platform they deserve to showcase something innovative. But Barish really pushed things forward in the capital's nightlife scene offering something new in terms of sights, sounds, and setting. It was really exciting to be a part of it all from setting things up to throwing down the beats that I love.

Unfortunately despite all the legal precautions that were taken, we were shut down by Delhi Police towards the end of the night. Doing outdoor events here can invite a lot of trouble from authorities... But it was all worth the struggle in the end. Everything about the party got headz turning in the city, and it also attracted a lot of attention from the media. Everyone from Time Out Delhi to CNN-IBN covered the event extensively. The feature Time Out wrote on the event also shed some light on Dubstep, giving Delhi readers a very brief intro to the genre. The CNN crew had their cameras recording throughout the entire event, and told us they will be airing a Barish mini-documentary on television soon... so its all big things in the end and we are very happy with the result.

Dropping these Dubstep rhythms in an environment like Garden of Five Senses was pretty surreal. The amount of tunes I had that payed tribute to the Barish theme & setting made it extra special. It was really fun watching jaws drop and seeing virgin ears getting devoured by something so alien. It was also a real challenge pushing Dubstep to people that never heard of such a name or sound. I played tunes that I thought would appeal to the masses while at the same time did justice to the rhythms I had. It was also really refreshing not to be in a race against other Dubstep deejays playing the latest releases. I was able to take a step back and recognize how timeless some of this music really is.

Eventually I would love to see a full on Dubstep night blow up big, and get international producers/deejays playing in the subcontinent... But I think Delhi still has a long way to go before Dubstep can stand on its own two feet. In the meantime I foresee the music getting put up on line ups with other genres. It'll be a good way to spread the sounds to other thriving nightlife scenes in the capital... so definitely more Dubstep sets in Delhi to come.

JAGGI hats off to you brother them pics look fucking amazing, such a beautifull setting for what looks like to have been a really really really fucking BIG night.. I bet every1 had loads of fun even the cammels, shame bout the police breaking up the party near the end of the night. All i can say is - Wish i was there...
PS.. just checked out your vids... nice would have been nice to see a vid of the whole nite hehe. Thanks anyways for sharing with us..
