There's loads of great stuff on there that i cop on the regular too but Victory is a different kind of tune.

Can't think of many other roots tunes that make people go that unashamedly mental.

As I said, it's iconic. Anti-War Dub does that to people, but it's nowhere near one of the best dubstep tunes.

Pangaea - Router imo. Pev - Roll With The Punches and Digital Mystikz - Misty Winter are up there. If we're including Burial, then South London Boroughs is the best.

Roll With The Punches is indeed oné of the best dubstep tunes ever made. I'm always a bit nostalgic whenever that tune is playing.

Hahahaha. Not at all - it was a different time and Excision was really supporting a few of us who were making harder, breakier stuff (in the vein of Destructive Records etc....). I think my track 'Sound' which came out on the 2nd ever Rottun vinyl sounds like nothing else Rottun has ever released and there was quite a diverse (but harder) sound to begin with. The early Sully stuff is incredible too.

Rottun as a label found the midrange stuff worked best and they have had great commercial success, albeit maybe with sacrificing some of the early diversity.

The tracks that i released on Rottun (in 2008) were all written in 2005 so by the time they came out my sound had already moved on and developed and the harder edge had gone in favour of a breakier sound (maybe parallels to what Etch is doing now?).... see my releases on Urban Graffiti/early UK Trends.

I did have a conversation with Blackdown about wider 'reputational' damage amongst people writing off me/sully as brostep based on the fact we had released on Rottun. I think it is difficult to change people's perceptions about you as an artist, even if what you do now bares no resemblance to what you were doing 8 years previously. It was difficult for a couple of years to reach out to new audiences when one of your first releases is on arguably the biggest Brostep label. Hopefully me & Sully have both reached out to new audiences and people are feeling our sound as it is in 2013/14.

Certainly don't regret it tho. When i released on Rottun it was not a brostep label, just a label, the brostep bit came later. Some of the early releases are brilliant and Excision is a top bloke who really pushed hard for his label to succeed and it is always great to have your tracks on wax.

its definitely one of the better ones he's made within the last few years. when i first heard it on joe nice's show i jumped out of my chair. it just comes out of nowhere and hits you hard. probably tears it up inna di dance.

the sully/innasekt + threnody stuff from back then was sick, there was a lot of good stuff like that, armour - iron man from tectonic had the same sorta vibe and i dont think it speaks against tectonic nor armour

also 100% behind roll with the punches being in top 5... the way that bassline just casually drops in will always give me goosebumps...

I don't get the DJ Rashad featuring Tupac 'I Don't Give A Fuck' hype.

Nuff people on here have it in their top hits of 2013 list. It's got to be the worst case of Pac over-sampling i've ever heard.

That's actually one one the better rashad tunes I've heard, that's not saying much though

The sampling is pretty cringe

That was taken from Tupac's first proper film which hasn't aged well at all. He did get marginally better as an actor but the sample just sounds so cheesey to me..
