Customizable Ableton Rack *Download*

Post by R3b_Official » Sat Nov 09, 2013 9:02 pm

Hey guys! For the past day ive decided to construct my own personal and easy manipulatable rack 8)

It is ment to cut down production time, have all/most of the fx and filters laid out infront of me with everything assigned to specific macros. From adjusting a double notch filter to a flanger and phaser.

I spent quite awhile on assigning everything and have come up with four different racks for ableton.

The first two are exactly the same but one is for straight audio processing( resampling and etc) and the other is for midi or vst processing.( These racks have all ableton stock plugins except the filters, which are just Fab Filter Pro Q version 1.21 making the notch, double notch, low, and high filters.)

The other two are the same as the first but use abletons stock auto filter with Notch, Bandpass, Low, and high.

All of the effects are mapped to certain things and can be easily changed in the mapping tab.

The whole order of the set up is.
-Massive(in midi/vst rack), since everyone has it :corndance:
-Frequency splitter, to separate your high, mids, and lows.
-Filters, which i explain above.
-Fx1 with Distortion Amp, Chorus, Erosion( helps with getting nice high-end crackle) and Flanger.
-Fx2 which has Overdrive, Phaser, WaveShaper( Ableton saturator built-in effect, i modded it to make a sound change dramatically and be careful with it!) and a Vocoder.

Thats basically it! Time for a demo. I just randomly made random patch in massive for a really shitty reese and then did a ton of automation with the macros with basically every effect. I wasnt aiming for a sound but to see what I can do.

Ok now its time for ableton heads out there for a download! Its a mediafire link with a project file(Ableton 9.0.2) of my demo sound with the racks in the project and in another folder inside the project folder. So there should be two sets of all the racks :Q:.

Try it out and see what you like or hate about it, you can change it to your linking and surprisingly isn't a cpu hog since mostly everything is native in ableton. I have an old piece of crap macbook with like 2 g of ram so it should run fine on your computer :W:.

Feedback would be appreciated and also any changes would be fine :U: After this i might want to create a thread strictly pertaining to abletons racks so we can share ideas and other shortcuts to some sounds. Not sure if it would fit in production or sound design section.... but i will see.

Here it is finally and thank you for your time :6:.

Nice rack man! Thanks for sharing it with us.

I wrote up this post just now on how to get more movement into your basses. You can learn a few racks to build from this post:

Cheers :)
