We've got to do something about it. It's getting to a ridiculous point now, and eventually a tipping point will be reached. There is mass discontent in the air, and sooner or later something's going to give.

The current political parties are fucked. Corrupt, working off of ideals and economic theories that are laughable, out of date and only serve to keep the plutoctratic status quo happy. They will squeeze us out. They are terrible actors, working to keep their own elites happy so they can 'manage' us plebs. And we let them!

Representative democracy is a pile of wank when the representatives we vote in all have the same narrow ideals and goals. They just go about those same ideals and goals in different ways.

We need to form strong new parties, and unions need to disconnect their ties with the current political tricolour. Why not an internet based political party? It only costs £150 to register.

And mass civil disobedience. Hook up with you local anti bedroom tax movement, or your local anti cuts group, environmental group, disabled people against the cuts, etc. They are out there, there are loads of them springing up all over the country, just look them up, facebook, google w/e. They need people to mobilize, to help out in whatever way they can. It's good fun and you'll meet some new people :corndance:

If this shit makes you angry, stresses you out, or affects you in a negative way then doing something about it will help. There are lots of people out there who will help you out.

Do it.

We're all paying to be being spied on by our own government. We're all paying for drones to rain hell fire on wedding parties and kids in countries we're not even at war with. We're all paying to prop up astonishingly arrogant corrupt banks that don't give a flying fuck about anything. We're all paying to be lied to by a behemoth of broadcast media that everyone seems to blindly trust, even though it harbours paedophiles. We're paying to have the most vulnerable in society have their social safety net removed from beneath them, whilst their 'elected representatives' talk of 11% pay rises.

Who the fuck are we paying? Why are we all swallowing this defecit bullshit?

basically what i meant is that the amount of hate some people here have for these politicians is unhealthy and as they cannot realistically do anything about it may aswell accept that this kind of person exists, and stop being eaten away by hate.

I think you need to stop watching Alan De Bottom speeches on pessimism.

lol probably, but to believe you can change these things your whole life and then failing, just like pretty much anyone who has ever tried to has, would be incredibly depressing would it not? What makes you think things can change for the better other than blind optimism?

people have tried since the beginning of civilization to create a better society than what is currently there, and yet we still have ended up in this mess, what makes you guys think you are better equipped for the job than the millions that have tried before you?

It changes itself. People self organize, mobilise, or they self destruct. You seem so eager to bow down and obey. I'm just happy in the knowledge that not all of us take that attitude.

if it changes itself why not just sit back and wait for the change? and who says this change will be for the good? things could be a lot worse than they currently are

I know what you're getting at but tbf, history is littered with people making things better for society.

magna carta barons, the suffragettes, MLK, etc.

For people who just sit back and ride and pay no attention and don't participate and just accept it all and don't give a fuck, then yeah, it'll seem like it changes itself.

And you're right, things really could be a lot worse. At any point in time we could wipe out all the 'progress' that we've achieved and start going backwards... oh wait we already are!

Just because we're not all living in shanty towns and dying of dysentery doesn't mean we can't TRY and make things better, or at the very least, stop things getting shitter.

And honestly, I have very specific changes that I campaign for that I genuinely believe would better for us and others if they happened, and making enough noise and nuisance of yourself really does get things changed.
