... which is a claim with some weight, when you consider microsoft just got done by the EU in the long-running saga that was the windows anti-trust case

the internet and the horde of intellectual property it has spawned now arguably constitutes a 'cyber-economy' and as with all healthy economies, there should be as much room as possible for competition.

google's purchase of doubleclick presents a very real threat to the likelihood of future competition within the internet space.

agreed. With the acquisition of doubleclick, google has access to far too much information about any given individual. its really getting scary... plus, the money they're putting into Broadband over Powerline technology, combined with a number of other investments, would make anyone think that google is up to... well initiating a large paradigm shift in the way people exist, work, play, and generally interact on the internet. That much power can't be a good thing.

Microsoft's World Domination is so 1990's. I bet every morning, Bill Gates wakes up and kicks himself for not buying Google when he could afford it.

Google is the NEW Microsoft. Won't be long until everyone knows the CEO's name, and all the Antichrist theories come out. G666gle.

i suppose. the only difference is that the internet is more uncharted territory than software development. you have to give it to google that they are definitely paving the way forward and charting new paths and all that shit.
