Anyone else using Largo?

Post by drokkr » Tue Jan 10, 2012 6:14 am

Largo is the VST edition of Waldorf excellent synth Blofield.

I'm final getting around to learning this. Been hammering away with Blue for ages now so it's time to start open this up...

it's a sick synth, demoed it for a while but never really gelled with it even though i did like it's sound. i know ableton's operator so well that i can do just about 90% of my synth work in there, occasionally use dune though that does have a somewhat similar sound to largo.

this thread has made me think about revisiting it though to see why i didn't get down with it cos like i said sound-wise it really impressed me.

i recently got vaz modular though, so think that's gonna keep me occupied til i get a real hardware modular system.

Phew. Good to see not everyone on is stuck in the "He uses Massive, that mean I must too" bubble.

I use Dune a bit too but only for making warm pads and the odd arp bit. I know what you mean about them sounding a bit similar too. I'm like you with the way I use Blue and with the way you use Operator. Main weapon of choice ;)

Long weekend of me, Largo and some Old Jamaica Ginger Beer all ready to go now. I can't wait...

Yeah my mate has sent me about 3 messages on FB about Diva. Missed the free beta on it tho' Looks like it's right up my street too. No money for funny tho...

I used Massive for 2 days a year ago at a mates... Doubt I'll ever use it again. Fuck sounding like everybody else. That's why a lot of dubstep is getting a bit :H:

We were talking about 8 or 9 synths in here. Which one are you on about?

I used it a lot, but then there was some things bothering me just too much about it, like the fact that there were some pretty basic stuff that i couldnt modulatie like noise color... and after some testing i found that its lfos were kinda off, a sine lfo was not as smooth here then in some other synths. But otherwise it has a really nice sound... havent tried the Diva thingy yet but if its anything like Largo (and i bets its better) its worth checking out.

i gelled with diva straightaway, first time i used it put together a really nice pad sound using it. largo on the other hand i've spent sessions with largo but struggling to think of a really good patch i made with it and i know i never gelled with it. hard to call on the sound front, plenty of people are saying diva is the most analog plugin they've heard...personally fuck knows but i do like it.

Just got largo after rewatching the Joker master-class. This thing has so much lush I don't know why people are not talking about it more. The sound is kinda like a cross between albino and massive. I have only had it for a few minutes and I'm sure it will get regular use in my tracks.

Youtube is being funny with me and I cant get the link to start at the beginning of the video, sorry.

The guys studio is crazy. There is close to around £10G in what you can see in the background. I got a big shock at how he made the midrange for the bass. I thought it was done with automated bitcrushes.
