I've always find it funny that when someone comes with something that's fucking up the standards of a genre he always get 'punished' for doing that. I've never saw so much hate from ppl that know the comics as from ppl that don't give a fuck about the comic like for this movie. And i really don't get it. I've never read the comic, so my knowledge is zero, but i still enjoyed the movie. True, the last half hour was a drag (definitely if you watch the DC that is like 3 hours) and the end was a bit meh, but 75% of the movie was just sick. Definitely how it looked. I've never though that a dark theme like that could work with that look. And troughout the movie i really could see the comparision with that quote of Nietzsche 'If you gaze into absys, absys gonna gaze into you', because those 'superheroes' played alot with the dark side of everything troughout the movie.

8/10.
It's shit compared to the comic though. There's loads missing and the pacing is all wrong. I don't like the film's ending and the lack of the guys on the street talking and reading that comic really ruin the feeling of tension building and the threat of nuclear war.

Because I think the comic is better? Stop being such a fucking wetty. Watchmen was written to be a comic. It's done in a way to work with all the characteristics of the medium. It's not meant to be filmable.

Was a little bit skeptical at first but this was actually really quite good.

Street Fighter had a higher production value though and the acting was top notch.

Watched Mandela the other day, the first 45 mins to an hour was pretty disappointing, the time frames were all messed up.. one scene it was day 1, next scene day 2 or the following week.. next scene he was married with a kid. They skipped through his early life at a speed that made it feel like it was just a slideshow of pictures.

From his conviction onwards was really good though, its a fantastic story.

Idris played a really good elder Mandela but young Mandela was basically Luther with a dodgy accent.

I do this thing where I like to have the subtitles on all the time...
Even when the film is in English...

I started this habit watching late at night - and I needed the volumes down...

Well - Now I'm having problems remembering what languages ceratin movies are in...
and some other weird stuff Is going on...language blurring

like - sometimes - I can't tell you if I'm watching in english or french or italian or whatever...

I'm hoping to wake up one day fluent in all languages...

Sexy film. Not least with Kylie Minogue playing Van Dammes daughter.

Is completly imposible to make a cinema adaptation loyal to the original comic Terry Gilliam tried to make a watchmen film some years ago but he said that it was imposible to resume so much philosofy in 3 hours of celluloid.

I enjoyed the film though, specially if we compare it awith all the utter shit films that have been done from the comics of the master Alan Moore

Yeah it's not a bad film and compared to the utterly terrible V for Vendetta film it's a pretty good adaptation of an Alan Moore comic. I just meant that in comparison to the comic it's not very good. Doesn't mean it's a bad film (Rorschach was done well) just I can't give it a strong recommendation as it felt disappointing when I went to see it in the cinema and really the comic never could work as a film.

Although i've wanted to see a much more intelligent adaptation of the Superman franchise, i have to say that this is still a decent and pleasant movie. And it was at a graphic level also a beatiful movie. Definitely those flashbacks. Yes, the chance is big that Michael Bay is jealous at the movie, but for some reason i can understand it. I kinda hate it in other superheroes movie (The Avengers as a example) when there's a big attack that they're are barely casualties. But at the other side, it's also excessive.

7/10.

Just finished minutes ago. Liked it. I've liked every Cohen bros movie I've seen so far, which are No Country, True Grit and Big Lebowski. It was funny in the way Big Lebowski was. I also really liked how atypical the hero was. Not just in the obvious sense, that she's a pregnant woman. I knew that going in, and was expecting some kinda "oh look she's a pregnant woman but she's still a teeth-gritted cool-headed cop" type deal. She was kind of an uncool country type (as were most characters in the film) and that's a nice change for a hero.

No Country, Big Lebowski, Fargo and Inside Llewyn Davis are imo the best Coen bros movies.
