Been trying to get my songs loud enough that I can play them at the club without having to crank the gain too much.. (too pov to fork out money for proper mastering jobs)
I normally try peak at around -6
then on my master I ....
1. Slap a super gentle compressor
2. Softclipper with around 1-2db gain
3. Izotope Maximizer on Clipper Setting 0db Celing and 10ish Gain
4. Make <200hz Mono with stereo tool
5. Adjust Gentle Eq
After the songs finished ill turn off the compressor if it doesn't improve the sound (or leave it on if it works).
Then Fiddle with the gains a lil bit till I hear distortion
Is there any simple things I can do that without damaging my songs too much? (i.e not good mastering knowledge)

Maximizer/limiter?
Re: Comment on my Ghetto DIY Premaster?
op,
Do you feel that the steps you listed destroy and degrade the quality of the master?
If it works and you are pleased with the result, then keep doing what your doing.
There's truly no right or wrong way.
Some folks make use of multiband compression followed by limiting.
Other times, if the mix is perfectly tweaked, then just slap on a limiter and call it a day.
Only when sending it for mastering, do you need to keep the master bus clean.

Re: Comment on my Ghetto DIY Premaster?
oh its working somewhat
Im just looking for some points for other simple things I can do to improve my self masters other than the basic limiting/loudness
I found that theres quite a bit of information out for gaining volume(which is a fairly easy concept as you can just ride it until you hear a problem and then back off a bit).....But not much for anything else?
Normally when I have tried experimenting with other things like dynamics options in programs like ozone thats when the sound starts to get destroyed
