I seem to remember liking some of the lost in translation soundtrack

Unless you're just talking original scores in which case there's none that come to mind ( except bladerunner but not exactly an original choice)

Did you hear his soundtrack for 12 years a slave ? he changed 1 chord from his Inception one.

Well at least there he is only plagiarizing himself instead of other people....

but the inception soundtrack also included obvious plagiarism.

Plagiarism within plagiarism.

Oh wait.

He did the same thing with the Dark Knight stuff, listen to this from Black Rain (1989 Michael Douglas film);

The strings section @ 1m12s is virtually identical.

Off the top of my head...
Cliff Martinez - Solaris / Drive
Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - The Assassination of Jesse James / The Proposition
Clint Mansell - Moon
John Murphy and Underworld - Sunshine

Zimmer is cookie cutter but he's good cookie cutter, for big orchestral stuff anyway.

Yeah if you're fine with blatant plagarism.

Zombie flesh eaters/ zombi 2 - Fabio Frizzi (the gremlins 70's psyche rock)

Commando had a seriously dope soundtrack .

Any Carpenter film. Some Troma stuff too.

Eyes wide shut is a classic with it's two key theme.

Kusturicas 'Underground' has a live band following the protagonist around.
It's different but it works.

I guess there most have been a lapover period from when big studios went into tv production, because a show like for example Walker Texas Ranger ( :corntard: ) has some really dope full orchestral passages and it doesn't strike me as stock music at all. Maybe they could afford it then compared with now where you have a full hollywood production and only one guy on a keyboard.
