Ppl with HS80s

Post by skimpi » Wed Jan 22, 2014 10:03 pm

Does anyone who has HS80s have this problem?

I have like some weird bubbling thing going on round the edge of the driver mount or whatever only on on monitor, and was wondering if anyone knows what it is or has this too?

It's like as if the top layer is coming loose and bubbling up, but its only around the points where the screws are. I am thinking it may be to do with it slightly expanding and where it is screwed down there is more pressure on it sound its taking the top layer with it. Ive had them like 3 years now tho and I never noticed it before.

I can probably get pics if no one gets me, but Im sure if you have the problem you will know what I mean haah

I have a pair of the HS80M's and don't have that problem. Post a few pics, sounds interesting.

Yamaha will be interested in that I think. Did you contact customer service?

Have you tried unscrewing the front allen key screws and smoothing it out? I had to do something similar the other day and it was fine, just keep the monitor on its back so the speaker doesn't fall out

Just checked mine, don't have any of that at all. Don't think that's supposed to be there. Does it affect the sound quality? If not maybe its just an aesthetic defect when it was manufactured?

Nah I aint contacted customer service, spose I should really haha.

And nah I aint unscrewed them, it hasnt altered the sound as far as I can tell so I'm not too worried about it atm, might have to give it a go though if it gets worse. I dunno whether its to do with heat maybe? My Nan is staying over so the heating is probably on more so I dunno if thats expanding it a bit, I thought it may be the sun heating it too, but they have been in that position for a while and this only seems recent.
