You have a $1,000(or equivalent) budget for promotion.
What do you spend it on? Do you try to pay people to review your music? Do you use a site like Tunecore? Go pro on Soundcloud?
…Do you do absolutely nothing and spend it on hard/software instead? What would you do in this hypothetical scenario?

I'd just keep the grand tbf, because it's probably more than I'd make anyway.

Press up 300 records. Send 50 out to mates who play out and some radio / club djs you love.
Sell the rest at gigs or go shops.

since the bags of chips that were a dollar are like $1.39 + taxes you won't be able to buy a thousand..but you will be able to get above 700 most likely. enough to fill up the back of a pickup truck. what you do at that point is up to you.
Re: You have a $1,000(or equivalent) budget for promotion.
I'd book Parris DJ cos it'd be a 130 night, he has shitloads of dubs presumably and having someone who can actually play on turntables on the bill is a bonus. The rest of the DJs would be myself and people I'm cool enough with so they'll play a party for free.
Then, hire a good, spacious venue, soundsystem is most important.
Then, a little extra bonus cash to the staff to make them turn a blind eye to any burning/pilling which occurs.
Anything else would go towards flyers.
If there's a substantial amount left after all of this I'll book steve gurley for a classic hardcore jungle set
edit: oh right this is just promotion
Well then I'd put ads on xvideos for my night
