I think a hybrid setup is the way forward. Seems almost everyone whose music I respect and is releasing records is using a hybrid setup. I mean props to the all hardware/all software people, I guess, but neither of those make sense to me at this point. All hardware would be sweet if I had a years salary to play with
Im also tired of people whining that they cant afford hardware. Guesstimate how much you spend partying every weekend. Dont go out every weekend and save that much money for a few months...or stop buying convience items. I gave up buying convience stuff while out and about and that extra + what I was able to save extra got me an ESX in four months.

I feel you blood. I could do an all hardware setup. Would need a good mixer, a few racks of eq and comp, racks of fx, mix/mastering level devices, eq, comp, limiter, tape machine
Absent that. I'll come up with crazy beats in hardware, bring them in as audio, and fx/mix in there.
Really could use a bcr - I'd like hard mapped controller for a soft synth or two. As is, I assign knobs everytime for every different synth. I'd like to recreate a fully dedicated hardware interface, bcr. hmmmm! Want. Even despite my legitimately founded behringer dislike.

Traktor X1 (mk2) / Traktor Z1 / Traktor F1
Seems amazing for Traktor DJing, sooo many possibilities for live remixing from very compact and modular kit. Z2 looks great too but I'd rather something more compact.
Curious about how easy it is to beatmatch on the fly using the touch strips on the new X1, anyone tried it?

These Behringer controllers are ugly and bulky as hell. Pricey as well.
Its the only controller I could buy and not just sit there collecting dust.
I program all my drums with a mouse and like to get surgical with automation. It would be nice to have control over track volume with a controller. Then I never have to leave the arrange window in Ableton. Thing is most my projects come in around 100 tracks so most the controllers out there wont do.
Might as-well just get this though, apparently it has Ableton support now.
Hey man, don't let us poo poo that thing. Who knows, maybe it is just an incredibly useful thing for you? With those kinds of controllers, I find you need COMPLETE parity between hardware and software, or otherwise, you end up still jumping to the mouse and keyboard, and it actually gets worse, slower, even more frustrating, and therefore just easier to stay in one or the other.
Have you looked at the new steven slate virtual controllers, what is it Raven?
Gigantic fucking ipad that costs more than your life? Nah no thanks. The point of hardware is tactical control. Not much of that when you're sliding your finger tips around on a piece of glass.
There's definitely a hole in the market for Daw controllers though. Motorized touch faders are pretty rare, as are digital scribble strips. It'd be great to have a bank of 16 with additional transport controls without blowing a fuckload of cash.

Still sort of abstractly physical though. You can't close your eyes and fiddle with a touch screen. Not really any tactile feedback, your fingertip is just located somewhere on an X/Y plane.

I was going to get the Presonus Faderport a while back, but in the end i ended up getting the Steinberg CC121 Cubase controller as I only use Cubase. I use all the parameters apart from the motorized fader. Its a great controller.

I normally power it through a usb connection. If you want the fader to move you need to plug in the power in an outlet. I'm too lazy to go under the desk to do that. Plus like i said i prefer to use the AI Knob+Lock tools to move faders.
