some good vibes coming off this thread. And I'm surprised it wasn't created before as leg said :/ I know most of who've already posted have been here for some time, so regardless, thanks for weighing in with your thoughts.
The original statement that crossed MY mind when thinking about this, was we have all these uploaded soundcloud bits from people doing sound design and some do continue to post the sound used in a compositional context, but I feel like if we had a place that focused solely on doing that, we'd make a solid step towards more original content, ideas, threads, etc....
Different chord progressions, circle of fifths in action, scales/keys and emotional evocation, Staccato and legato, etc etc etc...I read/watched something somewhere that stated, "There is no right or wrong in music. However, theory exists so that people don't have to experiment as much to find out what doesn't work"...
I'd imagine a lot of intermediate and advanced people would enjoy pushing their creativity while beginners can start to put things together by seeing music theory in action. If nothing comes of it, well no biggy then...but I'm at a point now where using major/minor scales with the circle of fifths CORRECTLY has opened up the scope of how I compose immensely. I'm very much interested in things like why are the I,IV,V chords so special? (something or another about how all the notes in each of the chords contain all the 'harmonically right' notes; I dunno, please forgive my ignorance)
Even as a beginner there is emphasis on learning basic music theory, but without any musical background, the rates at which one assimilates theory and learning the software are mutually exclusive. Consolidating and improving the efficiency of access to information is something I'm willing to help in whatever capacity I can.
