quick top 5 reviews

Post by pete_bubonic » Sat Feb 08, 2014 12:33 am

Two line limit per tune. I picked the UKF 5 of the week.

Image

Jakwob - Somebody New
Quite a catchy liquid dnb tune, brings up a muddy blend of Calibre and Die. Not keen on the vocals.

Teddy Killerz & Billain - Wizard
Noise wall.

LAXX - Step One
Begrudgingly like this. Almost a parody of the trap style beats out there. Those chorus chords are not the one.

Rogue - Cataclysm
Jesus.

Caspa - Reach For The Sky
Could reel back the cheese a bit. That said, someone who helped make this is called Charlemange. Actual banger.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

Itunes Top 5

1) Katy Perry and Juicy J -Dark Horse
tune slaps, you people need to lighten up about pop

2) Pharrell Williams- Happy
Beige, pretty sure that all there is to say

3) Jason Derulo and 2 Chainz- Talk Dirty
Sick beat bars were whack as fuck.

4) Passenger- Let Her Go
elf voice but i love it. brings out my inner teenage girl

5) A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera- Say Something
ZZZZZZZ. boring as fuck and fake emotion.

i kinda like that happy tune, it's terribly beige, but just nice background sun in the garden tune. fucking hell everything else was dire though.

Official UK Top 5:
1.Clean Bandit - Rather Be:
Quite catchy instrumental and the vocal sits nicely in it imo. I quite like this, easy listening and nothing offensive.

2. Pharrell Williams - Happy:
As described above. Beige, not bad, just bland.

3. DJ Fresh Vs Jay Fay ft Ms Dynamite - Dibby Dibby Sound:
Instrumental is terrible hard house kinda thing, the dibby dibby bit is horrible. Not Ms Dynamite's finest vocals to say the least, but not terrible

4. Will.i.am - Feelin Myself:
Really stripped back instrumental isn't particularly bad. It sounds too slow and the vocals from em all are terrible, except maybe Wiz who is just meh.

5. Pitbull ft Kesha - Timber:
Clichéd country sounds with a terrible dance tune layered on it. Kesha's drawl is annoying and Pitbull's bars make me a worse person by the second

All that melts away when the lights are down and the bass is up.

Dark Horse is ok. The hook is lame but J's verse minus the very last bit of it is fun. Couldve been more of a banger if it was less poppy.

Beatport overall top 5, based on the previews:

1. Futuristic Polar Beats - Back To Earth
Generic anthemic electro house. Boring and annoying, plus the producer name is shit.

2.David Guetta - Shot Me Down feat. Skyler White
The lord of babylon tries his hand hand at the big room house drop fad. Completely wank guitar ballad breakdown. Shit.

3. Mr Probz & Robin Schulz - Waves (Robin Schulz remix)
Deep house with sappy guitar pop on top. I hate it but I guess it's not quite as obnoxious as the top 2.

4.Blasterjaxx & Badd Dimes - TITAN
Yet more fuckin "big room". I thought the EDMandem had gotten past this by now. Shit.

5. Oliver Heldens - Gecko
Decent, if unambitious deep house thats built like an electro house tune with a big drop etc. Catchy and I like the synth. Still not exactly good though, but the best of the bunch by far.

beatport top 5 hip hop

1. kids with weapons & jacq - it's going down [label: trap and bass]
standard trancey trap shit with a wannabe kesha on vox. not as bad as i imagined tho. could see this going off in some student club

2. avicii - you make me (diplo & ookay extended remix) [label: prmd]
same as above only with more annoying male vox

3. headhunterz feat. tatu - colors (yellow claw remix) [label: ultra]
trap remix of what sounds like a vocal hard trance tune (read: shit). would probs go off tho

4. martin garrix - animals (victor niglio & martin garrix festival trap remix) [label: sprs]
"festival trap" pretty much sums it up. worst tune so far

5. mayhem & antiserum - hustle [label: firepower]
standard brotrap from ex dnb & dubstep producers on datsik's label. totally unremarkable

all in all it's not that bad, but deffo not good in any way. could name way more things i find more offensive than these

@SCope13 big ups on the sig
