Trap and the simplistic element

Post by Blueminthia » Thu Feb 13, 2014 10:20 am

Datsik said in an interview recently that he thinks trap could take Dubstep back to a simpler sound.
I personally think it's great. My heart is really into the simple classic tracks, for exaple "Emalkay - When I look at you". Back then you didn't have to pack a shit ton of sounds and make this giant mess for it to be good.

Don't get me wrong I like this new stuff, and all kinds of styles that are emerging, but why does everyone think it has to be a god damned mess to be good?

i dont want it to go as simple as "trap". all the new trap seems to be boring as fuck 808s and vengance sample pack tunes with nothing interesting at all going on. there is loads of stripped back dubstep being made at the moment and thats good imo,

All that melts away when the lights are down and the bass is up.

i don't follow dubstep that much anymore but hey you're in dubstepforum so you'll prolly find out what's the good new stuff pretty easy :) just check out latest tempa / subway / deep medi / whatever releases

some would say this isnt dubstep but stop fucking around that's as dubstep as it gets, regardless of the tempo

and IMO when i look at you is a bit of a bro tune. albeit i felt it so much when it dropped

Am I the only one who feels like the standard trap clap lacks enthusiasm and punch? When ever I hear it I go "dis is weak man, turn that shit off".

baauer's mixdowns are class

saw him in 2011 or somethin and he was actually rly good.

shame trap moved away from the hip hop style it used to have and towards this awful edm style bollocks. oh well it was fun for the 3 months it lasted before it got all fucked and OTT american
