When I was in spain I had so many run ins with the gypsies. But it was fun, as a tourist, like how cute, you're trying to rob me. Oh you dear little gypsy. But if I lived there, yeah, I could see that getting annoying on a daily basis.

and tbh romanians fucking hate them. pretty racist country/nation think i mentioned this before, but the mayor of the city i was born in actually build a fucking wall to separate the gypsy neighbourhood from the rest of the city, and nobody really gave a shit, he just got a fine
i guess that's better than setting their houses on fire like in certain rural parts

naa spanish gypsies are sick. They are the real alternative people, they live in a shit wood hand made house but have a massive BMW in their door. Plus generally they are people who really care about the honor code like samurais
the thing is that they live separated from the rest, is a very closed ethnic group but all the gypsies i know are generally pretty ok people

btw i once talked in morocco with a guy that was a really big drug dealer in malaga and he told me that all the narco bands didm´t kill other people themselves they just payed romanian gypsies mafias and they did all the job, and in one day there was no proof of the deadman.

im normally pretty tolerant of other peoples cultures, imo ppl do whatever they want as long as not upsetting/hurting ppl. but gypsies are like scum by nature. probs cos of their weird little enclosed societies, being a dickhead is just passed on generation to generation

yes and no

a lot of them are poor, especially the ones living in slums (caravan gypsies aren't really a thing here). those are pretty hopeless cases. and there are some organisations who want to improve their education and whatnot, but they're not doing much, lack of funds etc. they don't have any political representation, when pretty much every other minority living in this country has a party or smth. and speaking of their education, they get free scholarships at state-funded universities, limited numbers obvs, but still (i get the point, although i am completely against affirmative action of any kind)

as for the prejudice thing... it runs a bit deeper, i'd say
during the communist regime, they were given housing, at least in bigger cities, and they just destroyed the places (sometimes big bourgeois mansions n shit) via selling everything they could over time so they wouldn't have to work - which, like housing, wasn't an issue then. chances were you'd be arrested if you didn't work.
then there's the other fucked up shit, like the typical give heroin to the baby so it will stay calm while you beg; paying doctors to cripple/mutilate their children so it would make it easier to get money via begging (actually know someone who's in prison for doing this for years); there's one slum a few cities from my hometown which is so bad, the state retreated from there, like there's no police nothing, and they like made their children jump in front of moving cars (or sometimes literally throwing them out of other moving cars) so you'd stop and they could rob/extort you for killing their child.
obvs these are extreme cases, but added to everything else they do (robbery and other crimes), general lack of manners, living in enclosed societies (and wanting to live by their "laws", they even have a king ffs), breeding like crazy (although this is common for poor populations), making the rest of the world think that romanian = gypsy and so on, it's not hard to see how it fuels the rest of the population's hatred.

again, not saying i agree with any of this, but i can't really say i care much for the subject either

yeah, this is true. like look at what happened to black ghettos in the states in the 70s and 80s

the thing with romania is that they're not the only ones living like that. rural ares are pretty poor in general and the state offers minimal support and shit like this still doesn't happen in primarily white areas. it's a cultural thing too. going back to my examples of the communist period, gypsies in urban areas were way better off (they were given housing + jobs) than people in rural areas (who had their land taken away and had to practice farming in collectives; although some of them were moved to bigger cities to work in factories etc). i'm just saying that being poor and having minimal support from the state aren't the only factors
