Following on from the success of our sell out 7th B'day bash at the Phoenix, with Mungo's, Commodo & Buggsy, we return to our regular spot, the Cellar Door.
We bring to Exeter for their first time, 2 of Bristol's most exciting bass music producers, and at a wallet friendly ticket price.
GUIDO (Tectonic / Punch Drunk)
Along with the likes of Joker and Gemmy, Guido was and remains one of the key figures of the hastily named "purple sound", that emerged in Bristol in late 2008. "Purple wow" (as it's also known) often avoids the 2 step rhythms and bass wobbles common in dubstep, and draws a lot of influence from 80's Synth funk, 90's G Funk and grime.
Guido made his mark with "Orchestral Lab" on Punch Drunk in early 2009, and tunes with names such as this and "Mad Sax" (which later featured on his critically acclaimed debut album, "Anidea") hint at the musical and melodic nature of his productions.
"Beautiful Complication" was his next release, a vocal led number with an r&b inspired hook that was one of the biggest dubstep tunes of 2009.
He's recorded an Xlr8r mix and 2 Fact mixes over the years and after several more strong singles, he recently released another blinding album, "Moods Of Future Joy", this time on Pinch's "Tectonic" Imprint. We're very excited for him to make his Exeter debut for us.
FACTA (Idle Hands/Chord Marauders/Badimup/Sub FM)
Definitely one of Bristol's up and coming bass music producers to watch, Facta's been getting DJ support from the likes of Oneman, Dusk & Blackdown and Beneath on Rinse FM. He and K-Lone play every sunday on Sub FM (3-5pm). They had a weighty and beautifully swung track called Voodoo out on "Chord Marauders" in May 2013 (one of the finest deep and soulful dubstep labels to have emerged in recent years).
His "Montpelier EP" on Badimup was another strong dubstep release (also drawing on some grime and house influences), and the hypnotic groove of "Loveless" (forthcoming on Idle Hands) is hotly anticipated.
Definitely a producer to watch in 2014.
