Seems appropriate that BM partially BM'd the speaking in tongues thread.

There's actually contrasting stories of speaking in tongues, the one I was aware of is Acts where the apostles are instructed to speak to assembled crowds in their own language and be heard in each listeners native tongue. There are however other references to speaking in tongues where the listener wouldn't understand as it is a discussion between God and man but this is disputed.
