Skrillex - Ease My Mind awesome lead???

Soooo new album out from skrill and this has to be my favorite track on it. i love that lead at the drop, the main one. can anyone tell me how this was made or what i can use to make leads like these?

Sounds to me like indian sitar. Could have been from a sample actually.

Something like this: but with plucking instead.


Then grab effectrix or glitch, stick the tape stop/ scratch filter on the 1 and 3 and set the timing to 1/4. Distort to taste. Et viola!

What gen said. "It's a sample. Pretty lazy actually." is not something I agree with though.
Sampling real world things is something alot of people do, sampling other artists sound design work, or using sample pack synth loops is one thing, but real world instruments cant be recreated perfectly with computers, so sampling them is something alot of people do. Perfectly understandable imho.

Pretty sure it's a sample of another tune. I clocked it because I've heard the melody played before on sitar.

I didn't mean that the sampling was lazy, because to be honest it was actually pretty genius. Who would have thought to put that there? I meant that what he did to it sound design wise was pretty lazy, but then I guess it was his intent to have it still be simple enough to pick out it's origins.

Fair play, I'll take back my lazy comment in light of this.
