Well I guess that all depends if you consider your time to be worth £50/hr. I don't think "working smarter" would involve spending an hour on something I don't enjoy that's not worth an hour of my time. Working smarter for me would be using that hour to have a really posh wank or read a couple of extra chapters.

I'm honestly always impressed with anyone that finds that extra hour or manages to budget their month to save the maximum amount (seriously, no snark, I'm impressed - Viv's brilliant at using leftovers for her lunches), but honestly, my time off is sacred to me because I'm usually fucked by the end of a week. Every four weekends I'm be on call, so I'll effectively work 12 days in a row once a month. When my calendar's empty over a weekend, it's EMPTY... I won't even think about preparing for work until my alarm goes off on Monday morning.

I love cooking though. I'm more than happy to spend 3 or 4 hours preparing a Sunday meal or an hour or so cooking fresh after work each night because it feels like indulging a hobby, I get to be creative and I get to put a fancy meal in front of my lady which gives both of us a buzz, but making sandwiches for myself feels like a chore at the best of times. I've got a robot to claw back my hoovering hour and a skilled team of Southwark students to provide almost whatever food I feel like for lunch. Today I had a ham, cheese and tomato croissant for breakfast and I'm undecided between a Burrito and a Hog Roast baguette from Borough Market for lunch... or maybe a veggie curry from the canteen if I can't take too much time out. I don't even have to decide until I get up from my desk. The modern world is a truly wonderful place. Luckily, we can all enjoy it however suits us. :)

Tescos used to do a cantaloupe and raspberry thing... was amazing.

Actually, Sainsbury's have gone ever so slightly down in my estimation. Used to be two whole strawberries in there... 3 halves today. :a:

Im thinking about promoting strawberry to my favourite fruit. Melon is great and all but too often you get flavourless ones

Pineapple Is the other contender

Strawberries are fucking immense. I find Pineapple gives me a very slight headache if I eat too much of it. You're right though... Melon is becoming a bit too common. Used to be a treat, now it seems to be used to pad out every fruit salad going. The honeydew melon in Tesco's fruit salads started tasting like tap water at some point which is why I go to Sainsburys these days!

Apples are still my favourite fruit I think. Can't beat a Pink Lady.

If buying whole melons then it's fine... it's the stuff they put into fruit salads. Got a sneaking suspicion Tescos grow them hydroponically in their warehouses using water straight from the tap.

I think dried mango is a bit hit and miss personally, sometimes it's a bit leathery.

For me, the king of the fruits is the nectarine.
