Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
kahn has nothing to do with hotline tho.
theres no activity at all from hotline, then a release gets previewed on a phone number, released, and that's that. There's no hyping from them, people can hype if they want but that's on them not the label. people are hyping cos they like the tunes
if u dont like the tunes, thats fair enuff and a different matter.

it's nice to have records though…that thing about appreciating it more and such is obviously quite contrived, but it's true IMO.
When you're standing at the decks in a shop playing a record, it's got your full attention…clicking on itunes previews, not so much.
I like physical formats, even if it's just CDs that I put on my phone. Looking through Spotify for example, it's pretty paralyzing, there's too much music and you can just click between it too fast.

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
on the making a big deal out of vinyl thing, it wasn't directed exclusively at the tape echo guys, more at everyone tbh - be it label owners, journalists, fanboys w/e
"then a release gets previewed on a phone number" yeah definitely not a hype thing

i don't even care about artwork or having a thing. i just want the tunes i like

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
well maybe it is a hype thing, but sometimes it's nice to have something a bit different than just waiting for gantz to say on facebook 'just signed 2 more tunes for innamind'

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
if some people prefer the sound of vinyl to digital why should they realease wavs online instead of supporting and pushing the format that they think that is the best, as i don't have vinyls sometime is shit but i can´t see how is the fault of the label managers .
On the hotline thing, i don't think is hype they just do things with effort and love, other labels should learn of them tbh. But as they have said before people get hyped bc of the tunes, all the releases so far were FIRE

it's not jut the sound of vinyl that's better
it's the realness of a physical format. Nobody has time to buy records they don't really like, but I've got bare shit on itunes I'll listen to once.

Bit torn on this. Can look at it two ways: Either dismiss it as "hype" or praise it as unique and, seemingly effective, advertisement of their product.ultraspatial wrote:"then a release gets previewed on a phone number" yeah definitely not a hype thing

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
that is a bit stupid tbh, then itunes mp3 should be 6 euros so people just buy the tunes they like a lot...Harkat wrote:it's not jut the sound of vinyl that's better

the only advantage of vinyl is the bass, even the mid and higher notes in wav are better but the sound of the sub in vinyl has no opponents

surely 'hype' is the desired result of effective advertisement?

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
Obviously they know it's gonna create interest, but that's all it is, deserved interest, forgetting the negative connotations of the word 'hype'. No one else does it, its a good laugh, and they don't milk it/ spam it at all - just a few posts around release date.garethom wrote:Bit torn on this. Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
didn't use the word "hype" as something negative necessarily. it's 2014, it's all about marketing, you need to stand out somehow with so much music being released. and props to them for achieving that
the problem is IMO that the tunes don't live up to the hype (doesn't matter who's doing it really). the tunes would be totally forgetable if they were digi only, so it's just the idea that it's something special via being marketed in a different way, again IMO

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
lol its not all about marketing
Hotline 004. Signed two massive fucking tunes from one of dubstep's best regarded producers. Does really well.

Huge tune. Get better speakers/inshallah your ears m7 etc.
+ the phoneline thing for Hotline is sick. Remember ringing up and hearing the tinniest version of Backchat, such a class little way to find out about a release.
Ofc now it gets a bit redundant because within an hour of the new voicemail going up you get every blog on FB posting the tracklisting. Sick label tho
