Re: DSF- Against The Clock: Rockonin
So if i do this with an MPC can I sample the vinyl pre it? Bit unclear on the rules as to sampling and what I can pre prep.

Re: DSF- Against The Clock: Rockonin
On against the clock it says "Samples can be prepared in advance" so it should be ok. On some of the videos there's people tracking with drum machines with samples already loaded on them, so it should be alright i guess. I think Four Tet on the "Beat It" version does sample vinyl on the go.

Re: DSF- Against The Clock: Rockonin
That was sick Rockonin, get inverted had me creasing. Good effort mate. Would like more commentary through the video, to see what your thought processes are in each part, though I appreciate you gotta concentrate. I wouldn't get anywhere near what you had in 10 minutes.

I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

That's what I'm saying! I don't even choose a kick in 10 minutes.

I think I manged to make a decent amount due to my efficiency of making drum patterns. I generally work around the drums. Plus the lineararity of Cubase helps my workflow. I record stuff pretty much everyday, so i have the experience to churn things out fast.
Re: DSF- Against The Clock: Rockonin
I feel you on that. My execution is fast as fuck, my mental process is SLOOOOOW. Honestly, I've done some 5 hour beats, and it is like shitting a bowling ball (y'all bowl in the uk? I honestly have no idea). Such force required to push that beat out. I don't know why it is that way for me. Mostly because I suck. Like I can get the core of a beat in minutes, or just a revolution of the turntable, but, to take it all the way to it being a song... I work and rework so many times, putting together, taking apart, putting together. Laborious.
Someone (Deadly, I'm looking in your direction) needs to do a second one. Rock, maybe you could... put the footage together? I can as well, but I'm not doing the AE stuff.
I bet Jizzy could do one of these. Zoso could do one too, I'm sure. Would be dope to get some production 10 minute challenges. I'd do one as well. Load up the 404 and hope for the best.
Shit, I'm thinking along the beat vein, but BudSpencertron could do one as well. I'd pay money to get a peek in his studio.

I'm kinda just getting by right now. I don't know if I can do one right now. But this summer, there would be a much better chance.

Re: DSF- Against The Clock: Rockonin
Dude, dsf is integral to my workflow. I work in large blocks when I can, so every few minutes. I take a break, to clear the mental pallet, and see what appliance Agent has stolen, what minor ****** has brought m8son to death, who's been inverted... haha, see 1.3 second moving image loop of a dude putting his head in an alligators mouth, only to have it bitten off... haha. Take little bites like that (no pun) and get back into what I was doing, but maybe evaluate with a clearer perspective. I get very emotional with music. I get into it, and forget to listen to it, and it sneakily becomes utter shit as I work.BudSpencertron wrote:but tbh i like to watch those but honestly i have no workflow or anything wouldnt be cool to watch me switch between daw porn facebook skatevideos porn facebook soundcloud for 10 minutes
