(yes that is a challenge)
Nothing wrong with the withdrawal method.
Honestly, it'll be a good chance to start properly learning the sp303. Maybe go full on batshit crazy and do it from tape.

Yes yes and yes. Just be sure to do it.
The 303 upfront is really easy to use. There is deeper wisdom, but in time.

So I'm trying to think of some basic rules for this sample flipping contest. like you obviously want to make the sample the heart of the tune, so maybe a minimum ammount of sample use? in terms of time. like you have to use at least 8 seconds of the sample or something.

I'd probably try to use the sample for the majority of sound, at least as much as possible. Dunno about a minimum time length though, could be a bunch of tiny slices for percussion n stuff.

I feel you, i just don't know how to define what's really "using" the sample for something like this. Over at futureproducers it's all just hip hop, so we all know how that goes with flipping a sample. But over here things get a bit more wonky

If anyone has any ideas for this, let em out.

I don't know, what about a break and a soul song with open parts, or just a few sampled phrases. I'm not so big on rules, its not like there are prizes or anyone even cares. Would be fun to just toss around some samples. I think TUNA! would be a great place for it. And it would be fun to actually have a theme
Zoso, its all on you! A break and a song?

yeah I'm down with that man. I'm no stickler for rules either, so whatever you think is using the sample as the heart of the tune. It's all subjective anyway. Does anyone want to volunteer for uploading the breaks and picking the tunes? I can do it, but I'm also thinking maybe we could do a cyclical thing, one person one week, another the next etc.

Worrrrrd, I'll go first. I'll start digging tonight, might rip something from vinyl if I can find something good. But my amp is being lame, so unless I can fix that, it will probably just be something from the e-stash. Sucks too, I just got this record "a funky thide of sings" with some really nice breaks on it.

Got a nice break I had saved that I ripped from a record, but I have two tunes for samples. I just can't decide: some really clean newer shit with openy guitar sounds or some nitty gritty shitty quality funk/soul

Just posted the break and the sample in the TUNA! thread, it's technically saturday where I'm at, so I figured why not.

hahahahaha no, but god damnit. I don't have work tomorrow because my boss left town, so in my sleep deprived mind the logic was "no work tomorrow, and it's midnight. must be saturday." well, whatever they're there...... sometimes I wonder how I survive.

Every time I see this thread, I read the title as an imperative to physically assault musicians.
